Synthesis On Case Study Analysis
Synthesis On Case Study Analysis
INTRODUCTION
Company culture is defined as, “[the] values, beliefs, and norms that influence
the thoughts and actions (behavior) of people in organizations”. In the case study
conducted by Jenna B. Arocha on March 2017 entitled, “Getting to the Core: A Case
Study on the Company Culture of Apple Inc.”, she discussed the effectiveness of the
company culture of Apple Inc. which mainly focuses on the innovation of their products
and services while maintaining or improving its environmental sustainability. For this
reason, Arocha recommended that the culture of Apple Inc. should also put an
emphasis on their employees in order to improve their services and make their
company culture more reasonable and progressive.
Apple Inc. believes that every person should be able to access their products,
even those with disabilities. In the subject case study, Apple Inc. made its products such
as Apple Watch for fitness available to those even on wheelchairs, Switch Controls on
Mac by using joystick for those who cannot freely use their fingers and Live Listen on
iPhone with specific hearing aids for deaf persons. Accessible products are better
because, as the social model reminds us, they allow more people to participate in
society, act in the world more independently, and live their lives with equality and a
sense of belonging. Making their products accessible helps a company earn a good
reputation to its customers.
In the study, Apple Inc. performs yearly donations of their product to schools who
teaches coding in order to give opportunity to students to study coding and develop their
skill and also for them to experience the power of technology. A company’s culture of
involving themselves in education not only increases their reputation but also gives
them the priority on the talented students of the schools they’ve funded. Those students
could be possible applicants and be absorbed in the company as their employees.
A company’s culture not only attracts customers, investors and creditors, but also
talented job-seeking individuals. Likewise, how employees are treated in the
organization, their workplace environment as well as the ability of the organization to
help their employees develop their skills and talents are important factors that affect the
employee turnover of the company. In the study of Arocha, she highlighted how other
companies encourage collaboration and innovation within their employees. Through
this, they were able to discuss their findings and discover new ideas and strategies. Not
only does this help for the innovation of the products and services of the company, but it
will also make the employees feel empowered and trusted. Employees who have
confidence in themselves would help them take risks and think outside the box,
presenting a much more creative idea for the company.
