HYDROGEN IS THE RIGHT SOLUTION FOR
CLEAN URBAN DELIVERY
It supports the energy policies to reduce fossil fuel dependency
•  Promote local energy production (Renewable, Nuclear, Biogas)

It solves the Urban Air Pollution problem

•  European Air Quality Standards Regulations 2010
-  Particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone

•  Health risks to millions of EU Citizens: asthma, emphysema, heart disease, and

other potentially lethal conditions

Urban delivery cycle usages are very demanding

•  Light Duty Vehicles do not make 5 liters / km… they make 10 liters!
•  Battery-based solutions fall short of this market requirements (range and
availability)

Hydrogen
H2 prod. sites
•  European Hydrogen Production: 9 million tons per year ≈90bn m3
•  50% is used for diesel desulfurization
•  Clean hydrogen è 30 billions of diesel liters è 15% of European Consumption
•  Up to 10% might be available as “surplus hydrogen” in Europe today

•  Hydrogen average price calculated with a survey made with all industrial gas players (Air Liquide, Linde…).
•  It takes into account the first investments needed to deploy an European complete infrastructure.
•  First small Air Liquide deployments shows that 9€/kg is reachable today, and using hydrogen byproduct, 7€/kg is
available today

FCEV: SAME LEVEL OF SAFETY AS CONVENTIONAL ICE
VEHICLES(1)

Crash safety ▪  Crash tests demonstrate that FCEVs ensure same high degree of safety as conventional ICE
vehicles
▪  Several FCEVs involved in real traffic accidents over past years, none of them resulting in any
hydrogen leakage or explosion
▪  Pressure-relief valves prevent any rupture of hydrogen tanks
▪  Sensors detect any uncontrolled hydrogen leakage and trigger emergency shutdown

Refueling safety
▪  150 station in operation of which a large number is publicly accessible show that hydrogen can be
operated safely in a retail environment. Safety systems have been tested by public authorities and
prove to work
▪  Safety limits and performance requirements for hydrogen refueling set by several SAE standards

Electric safety
▪  Electric system fully compliant with SAE and ISO safety standards
▪  High-voltage lines are electrically isolated to prevent any electric shock
▪  In a crash power to the electric motor and to all electric cables is automatically shut down

CLEAN ELECTRIC URBAN FLEETS
WITH H2 RANGE EXTENDER

Extend the potential market of existing commercial electric vehicles

•  Keep the true “zero CO2” and no pollutant advantage
•  250 to 300 km per day complies with most professional cycle usages

No need for a fully deployed public hydrogen infrastructure

•  Customer premise-located refill stations
•  Fleets justifies a dedicated refill station

Easier early customer adoption and training

•  Based on Existing Electric Vehicles
•  Only professional drivers and organizations
