Task 1:

EDE COVID-19 Scanner

Recently the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi has approved the use of a developed version of

a technological tool called the EDE COVID-19 scanner. EDE Scanner has many different types.

Before two years one type of EDE scanner was used by Dubai Police to detect crimes. While in

Abu Dhabi they did an incremental innovation on it to be used to check if a particular person is

infected or not infected by COVID-19 EDE scanner started to be officially used in Abu Dhabi on

28 July 2021 in residential areas, malls, land, and air. Which currently works as a supportive tool

to control the spread of COVID-19 in Abu Dhabi.1

Features of EDE COVID-19 Scanner:

 It is a Smartphone App: EDE COVID-19 scanner is a smartphone application that is

linked to a sensor that scans the individual face to detect the infection of COVID-19, it is

developed by the EDE research Institution of Abu Dhabi under the holding of the

International Holding Company (IHC).

 Discovering the positive and negative cases of COVID-19: The scanner shows that a

person is positive so he/she won’t be able to enter the place, and the approved protocol by

the Department of Health will be done, which include doing a PCR within 24 hours to

confirm the case, and getting the needed treatment depending on the severity of the case.

  Searching for Electromagnetic Waves: This scanner is equipped with a technology called

cutting edge which uses innovative sensors to do the scanning process. This scanning

process detects waves in the human body that is called electromagnetic waves which

happen when the human body is infected by COVID-19 which causes RNA particles to

appear.

 Super-fast method: The whole process will take just a second to get the result whether a

person is a positive case or negative (infected by COVID-19 or not infected).

 Tests, accuracy, and sensitivity: After going through a process of testing this new tool at

multiple locations in Abu Dhabi including Yas Mall, in Musaffah entry/exit area, and

Ghantout entry point as well. By testing around 20,000 cases before launching this tool

for the public, this test shows a high degree of accuracy and effectiveness. It shows

90.3% of sensitivity and 83% of accuracy which is getting more accurate and efficient

over time, the more tests did the more accuracy and efficiency.2

 Artificial Intelligence Tool: The more tested made the more accuracy will be this tool, it

is exactly as humans with more experience they got more accurate and knowledge, which

is a part of artificial intelligence.

 The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis, and Disasters Committee said that a positive major change

will appear from this the EDE Covidd-19 scanner over time this tool is getting more important, it

reduces the COVID-19 cases in Abu Dhabi by discovering if the person who is entering a

particular place is positive or negative, it also facilitates the ability to return to the normal life.

This technology supports the vision of the leadership in the UAE, which will help in reducing

this pandemic till eliminating it. So this strategy is considered as one of the solutions to face this

challenge to establish a safer area for UAE society with the previously approved types of

COVID-19 tests including PCR, and DPI. In Abu Dhabi, the smartphones on which this

application is installed it is provided by Abu Dhabi of Economic Development to be used at the

entrances. Furthermore, the needed training to the security team was provided and still providing

it to be smoothly used and able to meet its main goal.3

Benefits of EDE COVID-19 Scanner:

Since starting the use of EDE COVID-19 Scanner, multiple benefits appear including the

following:

 Comfortable citizens: a sense of comfort combined with safety reaches the citizens in

UAE and all the countries that will be applied in. They start gaining the confidence that

mostly there are no positive cases or all the shoppers are not infected by COVID-19. Fear

of being infected by COVID-19 reduces the ability of the immune system to fight the

virus from entering the body, so minimizing this fear will result in minimizing the

infected cases.

  More efficient: this new technology is quick, efficient, and convenient. Even the people

like it. In a second or two the security in the shopping centers will be able to get the result

if the person is positive or negative. So this will reduce the crowd at entrains of the malls

and any organization, or place that will apply it because it will It replace the use of the

green pass which consume a lot of time and in case a person has no internet or picture of

it will not be able to enter the desired place.

 Reduce the spread of COVID-19: EDE COVID-19 Scanner is able to discover the

positive case. Which will reduce the spread of COVID-19. For example, if there was no

EDE COVID-19 Scanner a positive case will be able to enter the mall and infect other

shoppers while they are rounding in the malls. So it is conceded as a supportive

technological innovation to get back to our normal life without a various called COVID-

19.

 Safe method of discovering COVID-19: reverse the other radiation systems or devices

this scanner is using non-harmful radiation that does not affect the human body in a

negative way, it was a very critical, and challenged mission to come up with a device that

does not affect the human body even when it is done several times a day. 4

Task 2:

Successful Entrepreneur

Entrepreneur: is a person or group of people who start a business. They work together to

discover new opportunities from their personal and career lives. Also, they create a thesis

about innovating and delivering values to customers and community and how they can

 satisfy their needs and they apply these thesis and test their ideas to see if it has acceptance

among the community. Here are some tips for those who want to be successful entrepreneurs:

1- Building a team: a successful entrepreneur who makes a team and works together to

create unique innovation and ideas to give a kind of value to the people and society. This

member that the entrepreneur is going to hire must have a talented and creative mind to

accomplish the common goals of the business. The benefit of having an entrepreneur team is

that they are complementary to each other. Besides, building a team will help the

entrepreneur to focus more on their work and specialty to build a successful business.

2- Risk-taker: entrepreneurs usually are associated with risk, because they like to try and

create new ideas. When they launch the new idea, it is likely to have many risks associated

with the innovation created. Entrepreneurs are rationally taking a risk-based on studies,

research and development, market research and analysis, and customers’ demand. The

entrepreneurs are taking a risk to have high returns according to the market and competitor

analysis.

3- Learn from mistakes and complaints: Bill Gates says “your most unhappy customers are

your greatest source of learning. Let unhappy customers teach you where the holes in your

service are”.5 To keep the business successful and durable, the entrepreneurs have to see the

feedback about the goods or services that have been giving to the customers and consider

these unhappy comments as a gift from customers. Unsatisfied customers can teach and

guide the entrepreneurs to know where the weaknesses in these goods or services provided to

them and make improvements.

 4- Curiosity: if anyone wants to be a successful entrepreneur, the person must have a sense

of curiosity, for the reason that the person will be able to explore many new things and go

deeply through the thing that he\she wants to know about. The entrepreneur will be able to

ask many questions which is challenging and risky. Without curiosity and asking many

challenging questions, the entrepreneur will easily unnoticed the valuable discoveries.6

5- Working smarter not harder: some people think that entrepreneurs are working 24\7

without taking any rest or enjoying their lives. Overworking and overthinking can lead to

many mental and health issues that the entrepreneur will not be able to work and they will

give up easily. Sometimes, when people work hard, they can succeed. But it does not mean

that the entrepreneur must work every single minute of their day. The most effective way to

work smarter is to focus more on the values and the goals of a business rather than

accomplishing a huge list to do. By doing so, the work will be finished faster than following

a written list.7

Innovation Clusters

The cluster concept refers to the geographically concentrated group of intuitions and

interconnected companies in a specific industry. While the innovation concept refers to the

process of creating value from ideas. Though, the innovation clusters concept refers to the

groupings of separate undertakings such as research organizations, large, medium, and small

 undertakings, and innovative start-ups. Most of the innovation clusters are operating in

certain regions and sectors. They are designed to stimulate innovative actions by sharing

facilities, supporting intensive interactions, contributing effectively to technologies transfer,

information dissemination, networking, and exchange of expertise and knowledge with the

undertakings in the cluster.8 Moreover, the innovation cluster is a place with dense webs of

interconnected technology suppliers, customers, and companies. The following are two

innovation clusters around the world:

1. Silicon Valley: The Silicon Valley cluster is located in the South San Francisco Bay

Region of California. This cluster is the home of 2000 tech companies and most of them

are famous companies such as eBay, Facebook, Apple, and Google. The Silicon Valley

cluster helps companies taking the advantage of the technology revolution. The name of

the Silicon Valley cluster is based on a material in the computer microprocessor. 9Silicon

Valley created a center for innovative companies to become highly profitable. This

cluster provides their companies, such as Google, many benefits that contribute to the

company's success such as professional networks which led to better information

exchange, funding, infrastructure provision people with strong leadership, and highly

qualified researchers.10 The following are 2 examples of innovations done by google

company in this cluster:

 Google map: it is a mapping service that relies on manual mapping, government

data, and satellite images. It offers street maps, 360-degree interactive panoramic

viewpoints, aerial photography, public transportation data, real-time traffic

 condition, and satellite imagery. Google map quickly grew from a map viewing

service to navigation, location optimization, and company hosting. 11

 Android: it is an operating system that is relying on the Linux kernel, which is an

operating system that is most commonly founded on desktop and service

computers. This operating system is designed with mobility. However, Android is

the place where all your device's applications and functions live.12

2. Moscow innovation cluster: The Moscow innovation cluster is located in western

Russia and over 7,000 organizations are members of this innovation cluster, which is

overseen by the department of innovative development and entrepreneurship of Moscow

city. The Moscow cluster is a project aimed at expanding collaboration and introducing

new ideas between companies and members of this cluster. Some companies that are

included in this cluster are the Red Wings Airlines, the Clinical Hospital Presidential

Administrative Directorate, the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, and the

Technodinamika Holding Rostec State Corporations. The 7000 members of this cluster

can benefit from a variety of support programs and services. Besides, all of them create

an innovative environment that allows them to find new investors, partners’ clients, and

simplify cooperation. The participants in this cluster are communicated through the

digital platform I. Moscow. 13

Moscow cluster provides data on essential tools for expanding innovative business as

well as creating opportunities for production, technological and science companies

 among the participants.14 The following are 2 examples of innovations done by

Technodinamika Company in this clusters:

 Hydraulic cylinder (Hydraulic system): it is a drive technology in which the

energy is transferred from an electric motor to an actuator, such as a hydraulic

cylinder, using a fluid. This system is used in situations where a high-power

density is required, or load requirements change frequently. It is particularly

needed in mobile equipment including industrial systems and excavators.15

 Aircraft oxygen system: Technodinamika in 2015 has present a new Aircraft

oxygen system. This system provides the highest level of self-monitoring and

autonomy providing a means to significantly improve the safety of aircraft

passengers and crew. The Aircraft oxygen system is designed for use during

standard operational mode to provide the pilots with oxygen while in flight as

well as to ensure life support for the aircraft crew and passengers in the event of

cabin depressurization or spread of smoke.16
