ABSTRACT
When traveling for recreational purposes, people do not just limit their visits to theme parks and
casinos. There are many other types of environments that people are drawn to when vacationing.
Urban Entertainment Center are one stop destination for such purpose but tourism industry has
major impact like ecological disturbances, cultural mix and changes of social structure and
physical changes.
The proposed project is an Eco-tourism project of Dandi, Leisure and Entertainment world in
Gujrat. Different facilities of the park will include bungalows along with recreational facilities
like Aquarium, Mahatma Gandhi exhibition, retails, Gym, Spa, Centre, Swimming Pool,
Cafeteria, villas and Club House and others parallelly, keeping the essence of the context alive.

INTRODUCTION
• WHAT IS URBAN ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE?
Urban Entertainment Centre (UEC) can be primarily defined as family-oriented entertainment
destinations. Such centres combine recreation with entertainment to form an overall experience
using cognitive mapping as a key principle. Retail needs entertainment to attract people in and
entertainment needs retail to support the overall operation. Urban Entertainment centre also
offer a variety of tourist-related activities.

Urban entertainment centres vary widely. Some are designed on a smaller scale as a draw for
local traffic and an enhancement to the local environment. Others are on a scale nearly as grand
as those we considered in regard to theme parks, and there are many that fall between these two
extremes. An Urban Entertainment Centre can be a further development of the retail property
type shopping centre, which is expanded by thematically integrated leisure and entertainment
offers.

In terms of economic geography, UEC are a special form of a cluster because retailers,
restaurants and leisure businesses, cultural institutions and other service providers form a
community of locations, a network and a value chain in the interest of exploiting synergies have
essential atmospheric importance. The technical building equipment is usually very complex.

• KEY DIFFERENCE
Malls Amusement /Theme Urban Entertainment Centres (UECs)
Parks

A shopping mall is a Amusement Park is the UECs are not the stereotypical indoor
building or set of buildings generic term for a collection climate-controlled centres like malls but
which contain retail units, of rides and other incorporate a variety of outdoor plazas,
with interconnecting entertainment attractions corridors, paths, trails, courtyards, and
walkways enabling assembled for the purpose of interior space. They are generally compared
visitors to easily walk from entertaining a large group of to shopping malls in almost every respect
unit to unit. people. but scale.

• EMERGENCE
The development of the modern UEC is based on the crisis of the classic retail trade. In 90s, the
increasingly popular discounters and the more expensive brands, the so-called hybrid consumer
emerged, which occasionally serves its needs in both segments. Retail sales stagnated both in
absolute and relative terms.

The answer of the companies involved in the design of retail properties is the UEC. The core idea
of a UEC is an image determined by entertainment, i.e., entertainment is primarily propagated
to the outside world. The corresponding uses attract customers and put them in a relaxed mood.
In place of the targeted purchase, there is an impulse purchase. From an economic point of view,
the entertainment uses are not sustainable because the rents that can be achieved are too low.
The economically decisive component is therefore retail, supplemented by gastronomy. Since
UEC ultimately evolved from shopping centres, the dividing lines are often blurred.
• FUNCTION AND COMPOSITION
The decisive criterion for a UEC is the type of entertainment use. This often-combined
components, but sometimes also very individual components. A categorization is therefore only
possible to a limited extent. Retail and catering are grouped thematically and locally around a
central theme. Ideally, the boundaries are so blurred that the visitor can no longer perceive them.
There are no fixed rules for the relationship between the areas. However, it is assumed that uses
for entertainment purposes take up at least a third to half of the total area. As soon as the
proportion of entertainment facilities becomes too low, the character changes to the disadvantage
of entertainment, which is why the property no longer functions as a UEC. The usable area of a
UEC is usually at least 20,000–30,000 m². While the UEC is a simple and flexibly usable shell
from a structural point of view, the design and details, the design and details have essential
atmospheric importance. The technical building equipment is usually very complex.

• WHAT IS ECO-TOURISM?
The concept of Eco-tourism emerged with the thought of providing comfortable and safe tour with
the best interest of nature, wildlife and surroundings.
Eco- Tourism facilities are intended to be designed with the primary aspect to provide
recreational space which causes minimal impact on the local environment without compromising
in the aspect of safety or facilities. The secondary aspect of such design should be its level of
sustainability and economic feasibility which can be observed through the viable selection of
construction technology and materials used in the building, the amount of energy and water
supply required, limiting its wastage and the amount of waste products and emission produced

AIM
The aim of the thesis is to design an entertainment centre blended in the surrounding
environment to boost up tourism in the state, and act as a centre to be a one-point destination
for entertainment and social gathering space for the society.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES
• To design one spot destination where people can live up their leisure craving and also
experience nature in its true form.
• To enhance the sense of belonging among the people by introducing history and culture of
Dandi in design.
• To promote eco-tourism in the state by setting up an example and build environmental
awareness.
• To create an opportunity to the local people as well as for the tourist to get the essence of
the context, keeping alive the essence of the context.
PROJECT COMPONENT
The below mentioned components will contain various other facilities for the visitors. These
facilities are mentioned in brief below:

• Commercial Complex- Retail stores, Restaurants

• Luxury Complex: Villas, Club houses, Banquet Halls
• Theme Parks: Water rides, Aquarium
• Other Infrastructure: ADM building, Mahatma Gandhiji exhibition, parking, walkways,
Amphitheatre, Service Staff quatre, Open space for activities such as roller skating, cycling,
outdoor sports etc.

METHEDOLOGY
• TOPIC SELECTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SYNOPSIS
Development of synopsis for the project stating data such as brief introduction about the
selected topic along with its justification, aim and objectives of the project, initial list of project
component, introduction of site, list of case studies.

• PRE-DESIGN STUDY AND ANALYSIS

 Detail study of the project and its component to achieve project objectives.
 Study of bye-laws of CRZ site and design standard and guidelines for the project.
 Analysis of case studies and development of inferences for conceptual ideas
• SITE ANALYSIS AND INFERENCES
Analysis of macro and micro climatic data, SWOT of site, geographical features, flora and
fauna and development of inferences for conceptual ideas.

• DEVELOPMENT OF REQUIREMENTS AND AREA STATEMENT

Formulation of spaces to be developed on site and their detailed areas calculation through
interpretation of case studies and project components and guidelines.

• DESIGN TRANSLATION
Generation of design concept, form, movement, massing through interpretation of inferences
from previous studies and development with the guidance of Project Guide.
Presentation of Design in documented format containing Plans, Section, Elevation, 3-D
visuals, project report as per requirement for understanding along with other required
documents.

NEED AND SCOPE

Tourism brings negative impacts like ecological disturbances, cultural mix and changes of
social structure and physical changes. This project will provide comfortable and safe leisure
spot with the best interest of nature

L&E World will induce better tax revenue for the state, higher sale of food or merchandise and
enhance tourism culture in the zone.
When traveling for recreational purposes, people do not just limit their visits to theme parks
and casinos. There are many other types of environments that people are drawn to when
vacationing.
