Methodology Research Design This study will make use of the descriptive correlational research design. According to Shuttleworth (2008),
the descriptive correlation methodology of research does have the benefit of examining the subject in a completely natural and constant
context. The said design suits the nature of the study since it intends to assess the research competence of the Basic Education Teachers
of the University and their profile variable which will compose the descriptive part of the research. The correlational design will be used to
determine the significant difference on the respondents’ research competence when grouped according to their profile variables and the
significant relationship between the respondents’ profile variables and their research competence. Respondents of the Study This study will
include teachers of the Basic education Program who are officially employed during 2nd semester of school year 2021-2022. The
respondents of this study will be further identified using the following inclusion criteria: must be a full-time instructor, a teacher of the Basic
Education Program, willing to participate in the study and be involved to participate in follow up meetings. Data Gathering Tool This
research will utilize the enhanced questionnaire adopted from the study of Gomez and Panaligan (2013) as a tool in getting the University’s
Basic Education teachers’ profile and their perceptions on their research competence. The said instrument will have two parts. Part I will
deal with the profile of the Basic Education Teachers as to Age, Gender, Field of Specialization, Number of Years in Teaching, Highest
Educational Attainment, Civil Status, and Program Assignment. Part II will ask the teachers’ research competence categorized in technical
aspects, major parts, other parts of the research paper and other research-related skills Data Gathering Procedure The researcher will
strictly abide to the ethical and legal standards in the conduct of this study. Research Ethics Clearance will be sought from the University’s
Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to the conduct of the study. Permission to conduct the study will also be sought from the University
President thru the Dean of the Basic Education Program before data collection will commence. When consent is given, the researcher will
identify the respondents through the assistance of the school principals. After which, consent will be sought from the respondents thru a
Prior Informed Consent form after an explanation that will be made by the researcher of the nature and purpose of the study and
confidentiality will be ensured throughout the conduct of the study. The inclusion criteria for this study will include informed consent signed
by the respondents; willingness to participate in the study and commit to attend follow up dialogues. After confirmation of consent, the
researcher will gather the needed data during the respondents’ most convenient time through the use of the questionnaire.
