Anticamara, R. (2020). The Effectiveness of Paideian Approach in Teaching Social

Studies for 8 Grade.
Retrieve from: https://www.researchgate.net/

The efficacy of the Paideian approach in teaching social studies for grade 8 is
evaluated using a one-shot experimental study design. The findings of the respondents'
pre- and post-tests were used and reviewed by the researcher. This strategy was used
for six months even before post-test, which was compared to the pre-test conducted
prior to the study. This method of instruction focuses on Socratic questioning, in-depth
study, and the use of organizers to help students organize their thoughts. Anticamara
(2020) defined the Paideian technique as a three-pillared American style to teaching:
Socratic Seminar, Intellectual Coaching, and Didactic Instructions. There was a
considerable difference between before and after the technique was included into the
lesson, and they had a pleasant learning experience. According to the study's findings,
using the approach had a positive influence. In comparison to their pre-test results, the
experimental group's scores were significantly higher.

This method of education is unique in the Philippines, but the fundamental aim is to
inspire students to challenge what they learn and improve their critical thinking abilities.
It is true that as we begin to inquire, we begin to learn. In order for learners to generate
relevant learning, ideas, and inventions in the future, this talent must be instilled in
students. Their dilemma abilities, creativity, and communications will all increase as a
result of this. The research backs up previous learning theories and offers a fresh point
of view on education. Although some instructors currently utilize this method in their
classrooms, they must be aware of how to use it successfully and have the correct
mindset about it in order to avoid stigma in the course of the interview amongst
students.

Estrella, M. (2020). Impact of Using Computer-aided Instruction (CAI) in the

Performance of Grade 8 Students in Araling Panlipunan. Volume 6(1), 2094-0556.
Retrieved from: http://www.urs.edu.ph/

The purpose of this study is to see how employing Computer-Aided Instruction

(CAI) affects grade 8 students' academic performances Araling Panlipunan. The
researcher utilized an experimental research approach in this work, which allowed him
to vary the characteristics and classifications in order to see how they interacted with
these other factors. There had been an experimental group that was taught using
Computer-Aided Instruction (CAI) and a comparison group that was taught using
traditional methods. This study used a pre-test and post-test to examine the impact of
the intervention on the performance of grade 8 students by evaluating the data from the
various groups who received various types of teaching. The researcher created the
rating scale exam himself. According to Whitworth (as referenced by Estrella), using
technology in a social studies classroom may help students widen their understanding,
engage and be exposed to new individuals, and develop critical thinking skills through
relevant activities, all of which are important for education system. Estrella (2020)
discovered that Computer-aided Instruction has a favorable influence on grade 8
students' performance in Araling Panlipunan using the methods she adopted.

This research is significant in the Araling Panlipunan issue since that opens the
door to more interactive, technology-based, and engaging educational methods.
Teachers can now transform the perception of Araling Panlipunan as an uninteresting
topic and help students like studying about social studies disciplines. This might
alleviate learners' low performance in fundamental Araling Panlipunan knowledge and
assist them in becoming proficient with new technologies in the classroom. In today's
world, computer-assisted education is quickly is now the most popular method of
instruction in schools. Which is why, as Estrella (2020) suggested in his study, it is
critical to provide students and instructors with seminars, conferences, and retraining on
the value and influence of Computer-aided Instruction in education.

Cruz, M. (2018). The Effectiveness of Flipped Classroom Environment in Improving

Learners' Academic Achievement in Araling Panlipunan.
Retrieved from: https://www.researchgate.net/

A flipped classroom, according to Cruz (2018), is a method that combines effective

collaborative learning activities within the classroom with direct computer-based
education outside the classroom. The researcher hopes to enhance students' academic
progress in Araling Panlipunan by using a flipped learning to address their low
academic performance. The researcher utilized a semi, quasi-experimental study
design with control and experimental groups. The experimental group was taught in a
flipped classroom, whereas the control group was taught in a standard classroom. In
order to determine the success of the researcher's intervention, pre- and post-tests
were used. The assessments utilized were adapted from a DepEd-recommended
learning package. According to the findings of the researcher's testing, flipped
classrooms had a beneficial impact on student achievement in Araling Panlipunan.

Regardless of the fact that flipped classroom has been conclusively demonstrated to be
an efficient approach for enhancing students' academic achievement in various studies,
the study is significant. In future circumstances, such as this same pandemic we are
currently experiencing, a focus on technology use through the use of a variety of
instructional mechanisms in schools will be absolutely essential. Notwithstanding, it
presents a number of challenges, particularly for teachers and students, such as
internet access, obtainable devices, and knowledge of how-to information connected it
into the classroom. Still, given the current situation, flipped classrooms or any other
form of blended learning is the most practical and secure option. Teachers must
constantly seek out and apply the benefits of new technologies and educational
strategies to meet the needs of students and society.

Asejo, D. (2019). Effectiveness Of Audio-Visual Presentation on The Performance of

Grade 6 Learning in Araling Panlipunan. Volume 1, 2704-4599.
Retrieved from: https://sancarloscollege.edu.ph/

The teacher-researcher employed a quasi-experimental research approach in

this study. Two groups were formed: a control group that received standard teaching
and an experimental group that received an audio-visual presentation. The impact of
audio-visual presentation on the performance of grade 6 learning in Araling Panlipunan
was assessed and measured in these two groups through pre-test and post-test. The
performance of Grade 6 students can be enhanced and altered for the better by using
audio-visual presentations in teaching Araling Panlipunan 6. (Asejo, 2019). Throughout
these studies, the educator feels that using audio-visual presentations in Araling
Panlipunan stimulates students to learn more new topics and increases their desire to
learn more. The data analysis revealed that pupils' basic learning levels were similar
before and after the intervention. However, following the intervention, the experimental
group's scores are much higher than the control groups. This suggests that using audio-
visual presentations to educate Araling Panlipunan is useful and beneficial to students'
academic performance.

This research is pertinent to our present circumstances. Due to many external

distractions such as background noise, bad internet connection, and the lack of devices
for an online class, students in an online setting lose focus and have a shorter attention
span. This type of presentation can address and mitigate the difficulties that both
students and teachers face. Teachers can record their audio-visual presentation ahead
of time, and students can view it whenever they want, as long as they have a good
internet connection and technology. Because the stimulation of two senses is better
than one, it will substantially aid their attention and understanding of the lessons.
Teachers, as well as students, must use this technique in their learning. As stated by
the teacher-researcher, schools should provide instructors with training and programs
that stress the use of audio-visual presentations.

Cruz, R. (2018). Online Group Chat Remedial Class: Its Effect in Enhancing
Performance in Araling Panlipunan. Retrieved from: https://www.researchgate.net/

In this study, the researcher employed experimental research and used the
results of the first and second quarter periodical assessments. The experimental group,
having obtained the team chat teaching style, and the control group, which received the
traditional teaching approach, were contrasted. According to the researcher's
observations, accessibility to the internet, particularly in group conversations, has an
impact on students' productivity. It wants to see if this phenomenon may help students
in Araling Panlipunan improve their performance. In the first quarter, none of the 10
responders from the control and experimental groups passed the test. The results on
the second quarter assessment improved dramatically once the strategy was
implemented. As a result, the study came to the conclusion that virtual discussion
groups in Araling Panlipunan remedial sessions for grade 7 pupils are successful.

This study is very applicable to the modern learning paradigm, whether it is

online or modular. Students may use group chats to connect, interact, and retain track
of the activities and assignments they need to complete before the school year finishes.
Nevertheless, this technique comes with a number of drawbacks, including a larger risk
of fraud, a shorter attention span, and less meaningful learning. Nonetheless, this is an
excellent tool for addressing students' needs, raising issues, and establishing two-way
interaction amongst instructors and students.

REFLECTION AND ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS

What were the issues/problems/gaps that needed to be resolved after delving deeply into the
lesson? Share any personal reflections that may be beneficial for action research.

Most students consider Araling Panlipunan to be a tedious topic. This topic

has attracted little interest and attention for a long time. Students' poor performance
has been greatly influenced by this viewpoint. As a result, instructors find it difficult to
impart the concepts and principles necessary to instill citizenship education and civic
competency in their students.
Poor student performance, existing misunderstandings about the Araling
Panlipunan subject, short attention span, less interests, and limitations provided by
the online learning mode were discovered after the work was completed. These
problems have existed in the Philippines' educational system for a long time. There
were just a handful of the number of issues that Filipino instructors and students
confront every day in the classroom. Notwithstanding breakthroughs in pedagogical
approaches, the advent of educational design, and the implementation of the K to12
curriculum, schools continue to be too sluggish to provide high-quality education.
Many elements, both direct and indirect to academic institutions, have an impact on
it.
Teachers in the Philippines must keep up with technological improvements
and shifts in educational philosophy. These areas are valuable to both the school
and the community since they demonstrate a wide range of subject, pedagogic, and
technology skills. As citizens and researchers whose mission it is to safeguard the
common good and create a better Filipino society, we need to expand our vision and
just see stuff to their own full potential.
