The Miracle Worker

(Reflection Paper)

This movie was all about a teacher named Anne Sullivan who was hired by the family of the
deaf, blind and unable to speak child. This movie was very heart-touching and inspiring
masterpiece.

I salute the character of the teacher. I couldn't believe that it was possible to teach Hele n
understands the things around her. I admire her patience, effort in teaching the child with
special need. She was a great teacher who didn't give up for a child that was almost hopeless.
She's a teacher with determination doing everything she can just to help Helen learn. She's
someone that's best to be seen as role model for other teachers. She showed that no matter
how hard and hopeless a situation, things become possible as long a we don't give up and
believe. If I were to put myself in a situation like what the teacher in the movie experience, I
probably won't be able to handle the situation. Teaching itself is hard but those kind of
situation made it even harder.

Teaching strategies will depend on the kind of learner we'll handle. Same as the movie, the
teacher use a different strategy which was effective for Helen's capacity. In teaching, our
methods are really important for the learning of the students. Its necessary for us to learn many
types of those in order for us to be able to do our mission effectively.

Teaching truly is a noble profession. Everyone of us maybe able to teach, but not all are
effective. It takes patience, love for the work, and determination be one of the teachers that
can be considered as noble heroes.
