I. INTRODUCTION

The movie “Every Child Is Special” was about Ishaan Awasthi that has
difficulties thriving academically. His parent sent him to boarding school,
thinking that the harsh teaching of school would change him. Yet, Ishaan only
got worse, lost joy and passion for drawing. Not until his new art
teacher named Ram Shankar Nikumbh examined, analyzed, and empathized with
the situation of Ishaan as he sees himself to him. He stands to him and opens the
mind of Ishaan's parents regarding his disability, which is dyslexia. He
explained that their child is as special as every child and has his own ability. He
also patiently and effectively teaches Ishaan to write, read, and compute with an
approach he needs. In the end, his family redeemed themselves, accepted and
understood their child's condition.

II. REFLECTIVE ANALYSIS

Every child is special, every child has their own personality, every child
tries to conquer and focus on their self best in his life. Primarily, every child has
their own skill and talents and dreams in life. But the main factor to ponder is for us
to understand their dreams. And the truth is, we lack stability, patience and
concerns to their personal experience and life.
Ishaan is a child with above intelligence yet he was misjudged by people
around him because he had some problems on learning. He has Dyslexia which
makes him hard to understand the lessons in his school. I can relate with the
movie, while I am watching it I remembered that I had a cousin with disability.
He is deaf, he belong to the persons with disability (PWD). My cousin can’t learn
letters nor can’t read, because he can’t speak, he wasn’t able to go to school
because we are lack on financial support and our place don’t have SPED school,
and we are far from the city. I pity him because he was ashamed by his parents
before, due to his disability, they didn’t want my cousin to accompany them in a
public places or market and even in the town. They looked at him like was really
different people. And I was very sad to what I see because of the unequal treatment to
the people like them, we are the lucky people who don't have disability and our role in
life is to help them.
Every child is special, like my cousin he was very special too. Despite of
his disabilities, he was gifted by an intelligence and talent. I admire him for being
industrious, and being creative on simple things. He was good on converting, and
manipulating lights and wirings, and we are happy for him to have those talents.

Watching the movie makes me realize that all people has differences, yet we are
all special.
I realized that we cannot judge people by how we see them physically, every
people are gifted to have talents and intelligence. The movie teach us to be aware
on those people who has disabilities. It teaches us that instead of judging or
bullying them, why don’t we help them to embrace their talents despite on what
disabilities they had? Why don’t we help them to be happy just like a normal
people? Why don’t we try to understand and make them feel loved? They deserve
those kind of treatment though.

As a future teacher, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to watch this

film, it really motivates me to continue on what I am taking. Teacher Ram is
really an inspiring teacher on the movie who really do all his best just to help
Ishaan. I am feeling proud for what he did, his a great role model. This movie
open my minds that as a future teacher I must not the one who look down on my
students despite of their disabilities, I must the one who bring them up, who light
their path, who motivate them, and the one who make them feel that anyone of
them is special.

In conclusion, I was happy to watch the film. It made me laugh, cry, and it
amaze me also. There are lots of heartbreaking scenes who made my tears fall
down but in the end, smile wins. The film has many life lessons, I was happy that
I learned from movie, I know it will help me in my daily life and also in the future.

III. IMPLICATIONS TO EDUCATION

Having a disability can’t hinder a person who really want to learn and be
educated. The movie shows that education is for all, no matter what disability a
person had. Having a quality and inclusive education are not just for those people
without disabilities, it is for all, with or without and it is not just students who are
involved, it has educators who create a better and inclusive education for all. On
the movie, I was impressed by the teacher who had his eagerness and motivation
to continue on his duty on providing a quality education for his students specially
on a kid with disability. He never give up, he never criticize the kid yet he was the
one who teach and embrace the kid talents. Teachers should help a child in every
way they can. They should look into the child’s potentials as a learner and of what
motivates a child and what does not. Other than a having a broad knowledge on
subject-matter, curriculum and standards, teachers must have strong desire to
make a difference in the lives of young people.
