“Har bacche ki apni khoobi hoti hai, kaabiliyat hoti hai, apni chahat hoti hai.

-Taare Zameen Par

The story is unusual but not unknown. The message that the story is trying to portray is already
known to us, but most of us are unaware of it. Remember those happy days in school when the
only thing on your mind was getting up early and finishing your schoolwork on time? Even in
school, a teacher's warning was only a matter of time until you went home. The student-teacher
relationship has expanded and evolved over time, all for the better.

Taare Zameen Par is the story of a misunderstood child who is a 'loser' in the eyes of the world
due to his inability to excel in studies and to achieve the most basic work that children of his age
can do with utmost ease. It could be as basic as tying his shoelaces and catching a ball. He
struggles in all areas and is constantly belittled and ridiculed by his teachers and classmates. But
Ishaan's inner world is full of wonders he can't share with others, beautiful realms full of color,
and animated animals. He is a talented artist who goes unnoticed. The director, Aamir Khan, has
skillfully and precisely handled the delicate subject. He has not only succeeded in turning every
child into a hero, but he has also assisted us in seeing a child within ourselves. “Toh kya aap ye
keh rhe hai ki mera beta normal nhi mentally retarded hai?” (Amole Gupte) This dialogue from
the movie shows that often in life's race, our parents tend to overlook the co-curricular talents of
their children. With all their strengths and inabilities, every child is unique and talented in their
own way, just as no man is flawless, regardless of what position he holds in society.
The movie's theme revolves around a child who, on the surface, is a failure but has unorthodox
talents that are not accepted by the conventional ways of the world. This film raises awareness of
dyslexia and encourages open acceptance among the parents and the world. It's about how
parents get carried away by today's competitive world and fail to recognize their child's
ambitions and foster their inborn skills, not merely a dyslexic child and his struggles.

The film beautifully demonstrated how a teacher could act as a parent and care for a child as if
they were their own. It addressed the issue of dealing with dyslexic children in the most
sympathetic manner by not giving up and refining a child's particular talent without
underestimating them. "It's a story about a kid's life and his relationship with his art teacher, by
changing his life through care and understanding." This is the film's message - that you can do a
lot with care and love. He added, "I think my character is very open-minded as a teacher" (Amir
Khan). He doesn't believe in the rigid authority of what is conventional education.

The impact of teaching on children and the future of our society is as clear as it appears. Amir
Khan played a pivotal role as a responsible teacher in the life of a student who had nearly lost his
self-esteem and, for the first time in his life, felt heard. A bad teacher can generate substantial
difficulties for a student. They can make the task of the following teacher more difficult by
leaving significant learning gaps. They can also establish an atmosphere of indiscipline and
disorder, creating a pattern that is difficult to break. Ultimately, they have the potential to damage
a student's morale and self-confidence. This has the potential to have devastating and irrevocable
consequences. This was what exactly happened with Ishaan. All of Ishaan's prior professors had
never understood him and had never paid attention to him. All we saw were angry faces at the
beginning. Even if a student struggles academically, this does not mean that parents and teachers
should discard them and scold them constantly. It's essential to understand why a child isn't
performing well rather than blaming him because he isn't putting up the necessary effort.
Everyone should be open to the learning pace of every child. At first, the teachers were tied to
their own conventional methods of teaching, which formed a very negative perspective of Ishaan
in their minds, but after they realized how gifted of a child Ishaan was, they had a newfound
respect for him. The modern education system should add practical and creative teaching
methods to our conventional learning style so that children are ready to face the practical world
rather than just the theoretical world.

The director, Aamir Khan acted as a catalyst of a slow-paced film that only showed suffering. He
was the knight and shining armor of the misunderstood child Ishaan Awasthi. He was different
from all the typical teachers who came with the background of teaching specially-abled children,
and further in the movie, we discovered that he was a dyslexic child himself. Amir Khan not
only changed Ishaan's life but also imparted a liberal mindset in a school where discipline was
given the topmost priority. His entry as a clown with the song 'bam bam bole' brings a sudden
enthusiastic twist to the film. His unconventional teaching methods included letting children use
their power of imagination and paint whatever they like, giving examples of troubled childhoods
who grew up as great achievers, and finally hosting the drawing competition, which brought out
happiness and laughter in characters that we never saw throughout the film. These methods were
different yet powerful, which changed many people's lives.

The music also adds a very emotional impact to the story. The lyrics are breathtaking. I know
that's what they're intended to be, but I can't recall the last time a song's words made me cry,
"main kabhi batlata nahi" (Shankar Mahadevan). The lines "Dekho inhein yeh hain aas ki
bhoondein, patton ki godh mein aasman se koodhein. Angdayee lein phir karwat badal kar,
nazuk se mothi, has de pisal kar" (Prasoon Joshi) leaves the listener in a heart-wrenching pain
that puts them in the shoes of Ishaan Awasthi. The sound of sparkling stars sets the tone for your
journey of rediscovering what childhood really means, including how children act, why they act
the way they do, and the influence their actions have on those around them. This is a divine
listening experience that makes you sit up straight, enjoy yourself, and reflect on the meaning,
behavior, and impact of children.

When did we grow up? When, along the way, did we forget what it felt like to be yelled at, to be
put down, to be ridiculed? And why did we choose the next generation for revenge? Will we
recognize the child in us that is struggling to get out? Will the sensation that the lump in the
throat creates stay after the credits roll? (Meeta)

This film sends the message that behind every individual lies a unique capacity, perhaps not in
academics, talents, or recognition, but an exceptional character is hidden and needs to be
polished to be revealed and enhanced to become useful. As a guide to their children, parents
must become role models. They must not overlook their child's abilities in any manner.
Therefore there must always be room for improvement. No living individual is perfect in
whatever he does and never fails in any situation. They should not have high expectations for
their child's academic performance and capacities; instead, they should always expect some
failure because, while they may believe that their child learns nothing from failures, failures are
the ones who teach them to stand up and recognize that a change should have been made in that
situation. By the end of the film, the audience steps out of the theater with a completely different
mindset about education and parenting. It has taught us that a piece of paper won't determine a
child's future. Every child has their strengths and weaknesses. All of his qualities should be
celebrated and embraced.
