Supinator

Stretching of muscles

• With the patient’s humerus supported on the table and the


elbow flexed 90degree ,grasp the distal forearm.
• Stabilize the humerus
• Supinate or pronate the forearm just beyond the point of
tissue resistance.
• Be sure the stretch force is applied to the radius rotating
around the ulna .
• Do not twist the hand ,thereby avoiding stress to the wrist
articulations
• Repeat the procedure with the elbow extended. Be sure
to stabilize the humerus to prevent internal or external
rotation of the shoulder .
• Direction of glide : anteroposterior glide and medial and
lateral rotary joint play moments of the distal ulna

• Axis: Lat. Aspect of the wrist over the triquetrum
• Stationary arm: Lat. Midline of the ulna using the olecranon

3. Radial deviation
• Axis: Over the middle of the dorsal aspect of the wrist over the
capitate.
• Stationary arm: Dorsal midline of the forearm using the lat.

4. Ulnar deviation
• Axis: Over the middle of the dorsal aspect of the wrist over the
