THE PROBLEM AND IT’S SETTINGS

Introduction

Mobile devices is very prone to the youth. It plays an important role to

every individual especially to the students. It is because they uses it as their

communication tools to communicate others and use it as a service to their studies

. As of now, most of the students or youth have their own cell phones , tablets &

other handheld devices. Mobile devices are one of the most important things in

every students. They use it to express their thoughts and feelings and it is the

easiest way to fulfil their satisfaction.

Mobile devices has a big impact and their terms to the performance of the

students. Mobile devices are effective in terms of academic performance of the

students. It can help to their studies. It can help to the studies of the students It

can give more knowledge and broader understanding to the environment. It can

help to the students by always active and update to their surroundings. It can help

them by a communicating to their families and friends. Mobile devices such as a

mobile phone usage are negatively impacted students academic performance.

This means that the students who are using mobile phone more and having low

GPA (Jackson et.al 2014). Mobile devices has also a negative effect to the

performance of the students. Cause of the students cannot control their selves in

terms of using mobile devices. They did not focusing to their studies and there are
depending to their handheld devices. Over use of mobile devices can give laziness

to them. They are also wasting their time in using mobile devices and do not have

their selves.

Mobile devices usage significantly influence academic performance of

secondary school students , examine the relationship between facebook practice

and the academic performance of students (Wang, Wu, 2008)

Statement of the Problem

This study aims to answer the following questions:

1.) What is the level of effectiveness of mobile devices to the Senior High

School students at General Santos Academy in terms of:

1.1 Research

1.2 Entertainment

1.3 Communication

2.) What is the level of academic performance of Senior High School

students of General Santos Academic in terms of:

2.1 Attendance

2.2 Behavior

2.3 Class Participation

3.) Is there any significant relationship between the activeness of mobile

devices and level of academic performance of Senior High School

students of General Santos Academy?

Scope and Delimitation

This study is limited only to the Grade-11 students, 5 students of General

Academic Strand, 5 students of Accountancy and Business Management, 5

students of Home Economics and 5 students of Information and Communication

Technology. The researcher will be having a survey questionnaire for data

gathering. This will be conducted in General Santos Academy, Inc.

Significance of the Study

For the Students. Mobile devices is one of the most important things and every

individual especially to the students. They use it as their communication tools to

communicate others. Mobile devices also play an important role to them because

they can gain new knowledge and it can also help their studies.

For the Teachers. In teachers, mobile devices are also important to them

because they use it as a source to their studies. Some of the teachers are using

books to their studies but as of now they are using mobile devices to have a

background in their topic or studies. They also use it as their communication tools

to communicate their families and friends.

For the Administration. In administrators, mobile devices also play an important

role to them because they can easily organize and supervise in an organization. It

will be easily to them to communicate other people.

For the School Head. Every person has their own mobile devices because they

can easily interact to everyone . In school head, mobile devices are very important

to them because they can easily know if there is a problem to a certain school.

They can easily contact them according to the school problems. The School Head

can trace it easily the problem of the school because of mobile devices.

For the Community. Mobile devices are one of the most important things in the

community because it has a big help to them. And every community, it should help

mobile devices because they can easily communicate one another. It can easily

know if there is a problem in the community.

For the Readers. A mobile device has also a big help to the readers because in

this 21st century there are many new and old books they will going to read.

Nowadays, mobile devices help the readers to fix easily what they want.

For the Future Researcher. In this 21st century were many devices that the

invented and in the near future, many devices will be invented. And future

researchers, mobile devices have a big impact to them because they can easily

get some information to their studies is specially in research.

For the Parents. In parents, Mobile play an important role to everyone especially

to the parents because they can communicate each other. In this 21 st century the

parents are using mobile devices to monitor their children and with the mobile

devices are important to them.

For the Researcher (itself). Mobile devices are one of the sources of everything

in this world. Researcher itself or lessen its mobile devices for they can easily have

an answer to their hypothesis. Researcher itself is not only focusing on the books

to answers those hypothesis, because they need to have many references and

inventions and their research.

For the Youth. Mobile devices is one of the most important things and everyone

especially to the youth. Mobile devices have a the impact to the youth because

they use it as their communication tools to communicate others especially their

families, friends, and loved ones. They also use it to their studies and for they can

get some information about a certain thing.

Hypothesis

There is a significant relationship of a students when there uses there

mobile devices.
Definition of terms

The following terms are defined to support further understanding to the

readers.

Mobile Devices- Conceptually, mobile devices are one of the special

tools to everyone. It is one of the common devices that everyone uses

this kind of thing and uses it as a communication tool to communicate

others.

Operationally, Mobile devices are one of the most important

things to everyone. They can gain some information and new ideas in

their surroundings. They use it to their studies and research in also to

have a satisfaction to their selves.

Performance- Conceptually, performance is the ability of a person or

student and every activity. It is how we or she perform and a certain

thing and on how he or she is execute when.

Operationally, Performance is one of the problems in terms of

using mobile devices. It has a big impact to everyone especially to the

students As of now, the students are using focus into their mobile

devices. They cannot control themselves in using mobile devices.

Studies- Conceptually, study is an application of the mind to books, to

gain new knowledge, and to set the mind. Study is one of the students

responsibility are a vacations to review, to read in order for them to

gain new knowledge and have some information about in a certain

thing .

Operationally, mobile devices has a big impact to the students in

terms to their studies. You can help to them by gaining information they

did not know. You can help to them to fulfill their satisfaction in their

studies. It may also affect their studies in terms of using mobile

devices. They are not focus available to their studies because of over

using their mobile devices.

Youth- Conceptually, it is a quality of being young. It is a group of

teenage people who are living in one community or society.

Operationally, most of the youth have their own mobile devices

and use it as their communication tools to communicate others and

have an interaction toward others. To use it to be more active to their

surroundings.

Devices- Conceptually, device is a kind of modern technology that

everyone use it. It is a thing that is very important to every individual

and to the society.

Operationally, a device has a big help in terms of studies and

communication. Used as a source of studies and learning of every

individual.

Knowledge- Conceptually, it is a direct perception of a certain thing. It

is a skill that every individual should have and needs to be developed.

 Operationally, mobile devices have a big impact to everyone

specially to students. It can develop the knowledge of a certain person .

It can enhance the ability to think critically.

Communication- Conceptually, it is the transmission of ideas and

emotions between or among person’s with the use of verbal and non

verbal cues.

Operationally, mobile devices play an important role in terms of

communication. You can help them to communicate others it can help

them by expressing their thoughts and feelings to each other.

Time- Conceptually, it is a particular moment, a period of duration from

on the conception of the past, present, and future, as a sequence of

opportunity. It is a rhythmical arrangement of meat sweated measures

or bars, a period characterized by certain mark tendencies.

Academic- Conceptually, it is a performance of a students in a class.

It’s stresses to the ability of a students in terms of academics.

Operationally, academic plays an important role to every student

because it is a basis of others. Mobile devices help the students by

enhancing the scale of it and by that the academics of a student will

have a positive outcome.

Academic Performance- Conceptually, academic performance

stability of a students performance in terms of academic. It is also the

capability of a student on how she or he can handle his or her

performance.

Operationally, it has a big impact in terms of using mobile

devices. It can gives new knowledge to them and it can gain some

information and with that, it can give motivation to them and enhance

their ability and academic performance.

Education- Conceptually, it is a process of training to every individual

period it can cultivate and explain the mind in other faculty teaching.

Operationally, mobile devices play an important role not just in

studies, communication but also in education. Mobile devices help

education by giving some information. In this 21 st century, mobile

devices are very common education because it is a only thing that it

can help to everyone for it can easily to what they want to do.

Addiction- Conceptually, addiction is one of the rampant

problems in our country. It talks about the addiction of a certain things

such as gadgets, drugs and etc.

Operationally, a mobile device has a big impact to the students.

Mostly of the students are youth are addicted to mobile devices,

computers, tablet and etc. And with that, it can affect to the studies.

Students- Conceptually, it is the one who study period it talks about

the person who is willing to have a study and a certain thing.

 Operationally, a mobile device as a big help to them especially

to their status. Students have a duty and responsibilities to their studies

and by that mobile devices has a big help to fulfil their satisfaction in

their studies in life.

Active and Update- Conceptually, active is a very alert, it is a very

energetic and every activities in update is the ability of being an

updated one in surroundings.

Operationally, mobile never cease can help to everyone by be

active in always have an update to the surroundings. And what is the

actual happening in this world.

Understanding- Conceptually, it is the ability of a person to

understand what to bring is all about. It is also but understanding one

another in a society.

Operationally, understanding plays an important role to

everyone because it can motivate your skill to understand others.

Mobile devices help every individual to understand everything in this

world.
Theoretical- Conceptual Framework
