Yesterday, the City of Merritt updated the Evacuation Orders. Some properties
required additional inspection and evaluation, and as a result, 204 residences have

been removed from the order, leaving 66 properties remaining on the order.

The homes that have been rescinded are now accessible by Emergency Services
and have all utility hook-ups.The City has consulted with the fire chief, police chief,
public works, and legal counsel to make this decision to rescind, which has taken
some time. The evacuation order is shrinking as city services return.
Evacuation orders will not impact benefits with the Red Cross or DFA.
