What is diary entry?
Diary is a book in which one keeps a daily record of events and experiences. Diaries help
us to organize our thoughts and make them apprehensible. You can record daily events,
thoughts and feelings about certain experiences or opinions.
The definition of a diary is a datebook or journal where you record events, emotions,
thoughts or feelings. The datebook where you keep track of appointments is an example
of a diary. Diary entries are a collection of pages in a diary. The diary entries are usually
organized according to the date and time of when it was written. Depending on the diary
types, each entry holds contents ranging from thoughts, emotions, reflections, dreams and
so on.

- It Starts with 'Dear Diary’.
- Describe the places where the events happened.
- Write in the past tense.
- Use pronouns like I, my and me to show that the events happened to you.
- Talk about how you were feeling or what you were thinking when each event happened

Tips for Writing Diary Entry


1. Date your entry - each of your entries should be dated based on when you write
them.
2. pick a topic- is it about what you did today?
3. write naturally- Don’t feel like your entries need to impress anywhere.
4. be truthful- when writing your entry try and be as honest as you can.
5. be friendly- When you’re writing, try and write as if you’re writing to a friend
6. re-read your entry- re-read your entry and maybe list some things you hope to focus
on in your next entry. Reflect on what you have just wrote.
7. make it a habit- Set a certain time during the day that you want to write in your diary
and try to keep to that schedule.
