COURSE AGREEMENT

Course : ENGLISH FOR TOURISM

1. Course Description:
This course is an elective course for third year student and offers two credits semester.
It is an English for specific purpose course designed to enhance English skill in
tourism context. This course will explore tourism, world destination, Indonesia
destination, travel agencies, accommodation, transportation, reservation and sales.
Students will boost their confidence in listening and speaking in typical tourism
situation and raise their interest in local and international tourism business. Method of
study includes interactive lecturing, discussion, role playing, technology and
multimedia usage, and presentation. Cognitive test instruments and affective test
instrument will be used to measure students achievements. Cognitive test instruments
include quizzes, essays and exams. Affective test instruments includes observation
sheets during group discussions and presentation.

2. Course Objective:
Upon the completion of the course, the students will have positive attitude toward
tourism as one of career option, be able to demonstrate jobs in tourism, be able
to create simple tourism promotion.
3. Learning Strategies:
This course will be delivered mostly in lecture method (50%), class discussions (25%)
and group presentation/assignment (25%). Lectures would be delivered through Zoom
or Google Meet only on several topics. Other topics would be provided via videos
or/and modules which lead to forum discussion or/and assignment.

4. Course Rules:
1. Students must join online class in Google Classroom and study group in
Whatsapp.
2. Students are obliged to attend 14 (fourteen) online meetings. Absence from
class can be tolerated not more than 3 (three) times which is equivalent to 25%
of class meetings (permission is given for case of hospitalized, death, activities
allowed by the faculty or university). Should students be absent for more than
3 (three) times therefore the students are prohibited to take the final
examination.
3. Students must fill online attendance list provided by the lecturer on the
scheduled day.
4. Students are to join on time. Late arrivals, more than 15 minutes, are allowed
to join the class but considered as absent. The online attendance list will be
closed after 15 minutes.
5. English must be used 90% during the lesson.
6. Students are obliged to wear decent and neat attire during the lesson.
A. Male students are required to wear shirt or polo shirt. Wearing T-shirt is
prohibited.
B. Female students are required to wear loose and non-transparent attire. For
those not wearing hijab; hair must be tucked neatly.
7. Late submission of assignments will not be accepted.

5. Assessment:
• Assignments and Quizzes 30%
• Class Performance (participation) 10%
• Midterm examination 30%
• Final examination 30%

81-89 A-
76-80 B+
71-75 B
66-70 B-
61-65 C+

46-50 D
0-45 E

technically discussed before or during the lesson. If there is any change in this
