RE: Letter of Thanks — Transit Operations

On behalf of the Transit Operations department, I would like to express my sincere appreciation
for the incredible work you have displayed since the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Without
question, CTA’s achievements throughout this pandemic are not possible without the hard work
of the men and women of this great department. The pandemic revealed challenges many have
never seen, but you all have risen above them all. You all are valuable team members, and I
applaud your efforts; it does not go unnoticed.

The past two years have brought about an abrupt change in daily operations. The developments
regarding COVID-19 have been frequent, often causing us to change our course. I have
witnessed your relentless commitment to your roles. You have worked beyond your regular
shifts and taken on additional responsibilities while doing your best to slow the spread of
COVID-19. In addition, an overwhelmingly large number of you have taken it a step further to
become fully vaccinated.

Many of you and your families were directly impacted by the effects of the pandemic, making it
highly impossible to do your jobs. I know first-hand that it is not easy to leave your families
a crisis. However, Transit Operations worked collectively as
daily and go out on the frontlines of
a team, as you all have so many times before, to ensure we would not have any interruptions in
providing the optimal service to the communities that depend on us the most.

As we continue to recover and move towards normalization, we all must continue to work
together and display the same unity and dedication that we have shown thus far. We must keep
the momentum going today and the days ahead. The safety of ourselves and our customers must
be a top priority. We must not become relaxed on the practices and policies we have to keep us
safe.

Again, thank you for all your hard work during these times of uncertainty. Your dedication
throughout this unforgettable era in history is commendable; you should be proud! You are not
alone in your efforts. | am here and will continue to be alongside you every step of the way.
