Agen desensitasi in Office yaitu termasuk bahan
ABSTRACT
Dentin hypersensitivity is the response of the vital pulp to various stimuli, namely when eating
and drinking cold or sweet foods, this condition is caused by exposed dentin. The pain felt is
sharp with a short duration. Gingival recession can cause dentin hypersensitivity due to the
opening of the root surface that was originally covered by the gingiva. The ideal desensitizing
agent should be non-irritating to the pulp, relatively painless, easy to apply, quick to react,
permanently effective and not discoloration of the tooth structure. In Office desensitizing
agents include resin-based materials, sodium fluoride, varnishes, oxalates and
hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA). This case study aims to discuss the effectiveness of
sodium fluoride in reducing the level of dentin hypersensitivity in patients with gingival
recession. A 24-year-old female patient came to RSGM UMY with a complaint that her right
lower front tooth felt sore and her gums had dropped compared to the other teeth. The pain
disappears and comes, feels only when the patient drinks ice, and immediately disappears when
the stimulus is removed. The complaint was felt about 6 months ago. Fluoride used in the
treatment of dental hypersensitivity can penetrate into the dentinal tubules and change the size
of the dentinal tubule diameter.
