Dear VTFT Selection Committee,

It is my privilege to write this letter of recommendation for Shelly Foster for consideration of a
teaching contract with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. I have had the pleasure of teaching
Shelly during the past four years. During those four years, I have seen Shelly grow personally
and academically. She is one of the kindest and hardest working students I have taught in over
twenty years as a teacher.

Shelly has wanted to be a teacher since an early age. She has joined clubs at Cox High School
and participated in volunteer opportunities to provide her with experience working with
children. Shelly’s internship for VTFT I and II has been in the kindergarten classroom. She has
shared her artistic abilities to help students with arts and crafts, she read the book that she
created for Ed-rising, and assisted students in various small group lessons related to reading and
math. Shelly has participated in Beach Buddies: attending sporting events, playing games, and
doing various activities with students with disabilities. She also has volunteered at St. Mary’s
home for disabled youth and worked as a camp counselor at Hunt Club Farms. She also has
several years of experience babysitting children of various ages. Each of these opportunities has
given Shelly experience working with children and confirmed her desire to be an elementary
school teacher.

Shelly also has strong leadership skills. She was a member of the Freshman Advisory board and
has participated in activities related to the Class of 2022. She is a member of the National
Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Yearbook, and has attended Leadership workshop.
Shelly also demonstrates leadership skills in the classroom during group activities. Shelly strives
to improve herself, which makes her an ideal leader.

Shelly has radiant personality and is kind to all students, teachers, and school staff. Shelly's
teachers describe her as friendly, polite, and respectful; she comes to class with a positive
attitude and desire to do well. Shelly has built a rapport with her teachers and the students she
works with during her internship at John B. Dey Elementary School. Shelly also has excellent
verbal communication skills with both teachers and students.

Shelly approaches every task with great initiative and with a positive attitude. I highly
recommend Shelly Foster for a contract with Virginia Beach City Public Schools. Any school
would benefit from having her as part of their teaching staff. If you have additional questions
