___________________________PART I: ARTIFACT DESCRIPTION_________________________

Date of Activity: 1/4/22

Time of Activity: 8:00am
Objective: To help teachers add clarity to their lessons through success criteria
and “I can” statements.
LKES Met: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
Description of Task: I lead a PL time with all academic departments focused on teaching
clarity using success criteria. I constructed a PowerPoint presentation
with another AP to guide the session and I worked with individual
teachers to add success criteria to their lesson plans.

___________________________PART II: ARTIFACT REFLECTION_________________________

Date of Reflection: 1/5/22

Time of Reflection: 7:30pm
Goal: To reflect upon professional learning practices and determine ways to
be more effective during PL sessions.
Level of Involvement: Highly involved as instructor and facilitator during sessions. I also
check back in after the session to review some of the finalized lesson
plans.
What I Learned: I learned more about teacher clarity and its role in the classroom and
its effect size. I learned ways to package new initiatives to create more
buy in amongst staff.
Strengths and/or Challenges: I was strong in facilitating the work session portion of the PL. Since I
am recently out of the classroom I know ways in which I could have
added more elements of clarity into my classroom and was able to use
that perspective to help others. It was challenging to keep teacher
attention long enough to deliver the content I had been asked to cover.
It was also challenging to keep in mind needing to achieve buy-in
when planning for the session.
Response of Others: Teachers were generally thankful for the session and seems to have
positive thoughts about how they could use this to improve their
instruction.

Benefits/Contributions: I was aided by the other assistant principal who brought different
experiences with different content to the table. She also helped me
present and facilitate during the work session
Further Efforts: We will continue to plan PL that corresponded with the idea of
increased teacher clarity. We also asked teachers to submit lesson
plans with elements of teacher clarity and success criteria infused into
the plans. Additionally, teachers were asked to share ways they
incorporated these concepts in their classroom with their departments
so others could learn from their successes and failures.
