may interview your community leaders via online for further information.

Teen depression is a major mental health issue that causes persistent sorrow and loss of
interest in activities. It has an impact on how your adolescent thinks, feels, and behaves, and
it can lead to emotional, functional, and physical issues. Although depression can strike at
any age, the symptoms may differ between adolescents and adults. Teen depression is not a
weakness that can be overcome with effort; it has major implications and necessitates long-
term therapy. Most adolescent depression symptoms improve with therapy, such as

4. Choose the best solution. Justify your choice.

Live your life in the manner in which you would like your teen to live hers: get enough sleep,
eat a balanced diet, be physically active, model good relationships, and handle stress. Also,
seek help if you are depressed. Depression in a parent is a risk factor for adolescent
depression.

5. Evaluate the possible effectiveness of the chosen solution.

For most depressed teenagers, a combination of talk therapy (psychotherapy) and

medication can be highly successful. If your adolescent is suffering from severe depression or
is at risk of self-harm, he or she may require hospitalization or participation in an outpatient
treatment program until symptoms improve.
