R&J Act 5 Scene 1 1.

1 EXT. THE WALKWAY - DAY 1

(insert establishing shot
of the location)

The location where Romeo is sat is very peaceful. There's no

one around so Romeo made it his safe place outside of Verona.
ROMEO
(voiceover)
ROMEO starts writing what he is saying in his diary.

If I may trust flattering truth of

sleep, My dreams presage some joyful
news at hand. My bosom's lord sits
lightly in his throne, and all this
day un accustomed spirit lifts me
above the ground with cheerful
thoughts. I dreamt my lady came and
found me dead - strange dream, that
gives a dead man leave to think -
and breathed such life with kisses
in my lips that I revived and was an
emperor. Ah me! How sweet is love
itself possessed when but love's
shadows are so rich in joy!
(BALTHASAR walks in and
leans against a tree and
watches how peaceful ROMEO
is.)

(ROMEO then looks up and

sees BALTHASAR and drops
his pen and diary and runs
up to him.)
News from Verona! – how now,
Balthasar? Doat thou not bring me
letters from the friar? How doth my
lady? Is my father well? How fares
my Juliet? That I will ask again,
for nothing can be ill if she be
well.
BALTHASAR
Then she is well, nothing can be
ill. Her body sleep in Capel’s’
monument, and her immortal part with
angels’ lives.
(ROMEO turns away and
BALTHASAR sounds like he

is whispering while being

underwater)
I saw her laid low in her kindred’s
vault and presently took post to
tell it you. O, pardon me for
bringing these ill news, since you
did leave it for my office.
ROMEO?
(ROMEO falls to his knees)
ROMEO
Is it e’en so? Then I defy you,
stars!
(Romeo points to his
diary)
Get me pen and paper, and hire thee
car. I will hence tonight.
(ROMEO gets up)
BALTHASAR
(BALTHASAR walks in front
of him and hands him a
bottle of water)
I do beseech you, have patience.
Your looks pale and wild, and do
import some misadventure.
(ROMEO grabs the water out
of BALTHASAR hands)
ROMEO
Tush, thou art deceived. Leave me
and do the thing I bid thee do. Hast
thou no letters to me friar?

BALTHASAR
(looks to the floor and
shakes his head)
No

ROMEO
No matter. Get thee gone. I'll be
with thee straight.
(BALTHASAR walks off
thinking that ROMEO is
following him)
Juliet, I will lie with thee
tonight.
ROMEO is stood there watching BALTHASAR walk away
