Reflection 5:

How did the last few weeks go The last few weeks of my project have gone well. I had the
with my project? What have I opportunity to lead many times in the past two weeks. One
done and what difficulties did week we were working on dancing because they had a
I face? showcase at the end of the week. The dance I did with the
first graders was the chicken dance and the
kindergarteners did the bunny hop. To begin class, the
LINK/DESCRIBE/SHOW kindergarteners did just dance where they had to follow a
EVIDENCE OF THIS dance shown on the smartboard. Then they started to
learn the bunny hop. A tag game was used as a bribe if
they did good for the end of class. They did well, so we
played bridge tag. The next day we warmed up by doing
attotitah and then worked on the bunny hop some more.
We used a tag game as a bribe this day as well and Lacey
gave me the opportunity to choose and lead a tag game. I
chose to play dragon tag. I led the game and they did
really well. It was a good way to start to teach some on my
own, with the help of Lacey. The following week Lacey
gave me the opportunity to lead the warm up activity and
tag game. I led the Tabata and chose to play silly banana
tag, where the taggers are “monkeys” and when you are
tagged you turn into a banana and join your hands
together above your head and your classmates come
around and “peel” you. Then we played pinball. The next
day I lead the warm up. I chose to play noodle tag. In
noodle tag there is a tagger and a hero. The tagger and
the hero each get pool noodles to tag and save with. If you
get tagged you stop where you were tagged and the hero
comes around and frees you. We then did stations which
tested everything the kindergarteners have done this year
so Lacey could grade them. The stations included long
jump rope, bouncing and catching, cup stacking,
rolling/bowling, forward roll/ backward roll, catch and toss,
and individual jump roping. I was at the long jump rope
station where a jump rope was tied to the back of a chair
and I swung it around the students for them to jump at my
direction.

How did I demonstrate the I demonstrated the skills of initiative and communication by
skills of initiative and communicating with teachers and students while I am at
communication (or not)? Hartland and taking initiative coming up with games and
leading them.

What are my goals for the next My goals for the next two weeks are to continue to work on
two weeks? my communication skills with kids.
