Create a flowchart on how you wash the dishes.

  Enumerate the inefficiencies

and ineffective processes that can be eliminated and design new procedure
(You may use benchmarking techniques) that will save your time and effort.
Re-create the flowchart of the new procedure.  Use a timer to determine the
washing time before and after your improvement.  Did you save time? By how
much?  Reflect on the effect of conducting process analysis on the
dishwashing process.

 Putting all the dishes from the dining table to the sink is inefficient and
ineffective since every after meal, members of the family can bring their
own used dishes on their own in the sink. I will just have to collect it if
some dishes were left at the dining table.

 Rinsing the dirty dishes after sorting it can also be an inefficiency and
ineffective process since it can be done at the same time while scrubbing
those with sponge and scouring pad with soap until clean.

 Before washing the dishes, the sink can be monitored if there is a liquid
detergent to use so that on the time you wash the dishes, you have liquid
detergent available.

 Taking a check of the water whether it is clean or not is an inefficient and

ineffective process since you can check it beforehand.

WASHING TIME BEFORE TAKING OFF THE INEFFECTIVE AND INEFFICIENT PROCESSES:
12 minutes and 18 seconds

WASHING TIME AFTER REDUCING THE PROCESSES:

7 minutes and 23 seconds

After reducing the ineffective and inefficient processes on how I wash

our dishes, I saved 4 minutes and 55 seconds. The effect of conducting this
process analysis to the process of washing the dishes helps people to Identify
those inefficiencies and to reduce them, just like those that were already
eliminated. Those process delays, simple work that we don’t know is already
duplicated, and as we analyze the total process on how to wash dishes enable
us to spot where improvements can be made throughout the whole process.
To keep the new process to run smoothly, it’s worth doing process analysis on
a regular basis. We just need to put those processes into action and monitor
them to really see whether they drive the changes we’re hoping for.
Needless to say, this really helps us to identify opportunities
for process improvement. In this stage, we don’t know that we can eliminate
some of the processes that we used to do and there are so many techniques
available for us to understand what is happening in the current process
model. This analysis aims to identify those weaknesses in the past process
and the impact this may be having on the current one.
