Activity #1: MODULE LEARNING MATERIAL

As an EDUCATOR, what are your observations and experiences on modular mode of

teaching and learning, the preparation, distribution and retrieval of the materials.

To assure that learning restraints, DepEd will be implementing a distance learning

approach. DepEd will be providing printed module materials for them. That is the lessons
will be delivered to the students in their house or the parents will go to school to receive the
modules.

Under DepEd's printed modular learning system, students will be provided with self-
learning materials (SLMs) last quarter, currently, from Kinder to grade 3, they are using
Worksheets for the students. This kind of setup, in whatever way, poses risks. Teachers and
parents raised concerns over using the modular learning approach due to fears of contracting
the coronavirus.

As stakeholder (a citizen, parent and student), a teacher and an administrator, what

is your reaction/comment and recommendation about the article published in Manila
Bulletin on 02/23/2021 regarding the phrase "Hindi kami KATULONG", looking down on
nurses.

A learning material has gone viral online that shows drawings of people and the
description of their lines of work. The other descriptions in other professions were accurate,
however, the job of nurses’ description draws negative feedback from the people using the
word “katulong” which also refers to a maid in English translation.

We should know that Nurses and other members of the health care deserve all the
respect and courtesy. For they are not only taking good care of our health but also, they have
been at the forefront of health care and public health, especially during this pandemic. There
are other words that could have used to describe their job as nurses, such as, “kaagapay,
katuwang, kasama”. Or they could have described as “ang Nars ang tagapag alaga ng may
mga sakit”.
