On your perfect weekend, do you prefer going hiking or hanging out at a

shopping centre? Do you like going to a concert or taking a trip to a special
department store? How do you feel about shopping for clothes?
For some people, shopping is more fun than going to an amusement park, but
many people hate buying clothes. It can take hours to walk around all the shops
and find what you need. Buying clothes from catalogues is also a problem
because you can’t see the clothes on you. According to computer programmers,
we are going to have a solution to this problem very soon. Avatars are going to
go shopping for us!
The programmers are developing virtual department stores. These department
stores are going to make shopping for clothes very easy. First, a computer
programme asks for information about you, such as your hair and eye colour
and your size and weight. Then they give you a personal avatar. The avatar
looks like you and it walks around a virtual department store and finds clothes
for you. The department stores are going to have fashions from the real
department stores. Before you buy the clothes, you can see them on your avatar.
Do you like the way “you” look? Then you can buy the clothes online.
Technology is changing the future very fast and virtual shopping is one exciting
example. Perhaps our avatars can all hang out at a virtual department store soon.
