Blended Learning Lesson Plan

Lesson Title: Numbers to 100 and beyond

Objectives:
Students will be able to…
Add and subtract to find missing numbers
Know numbers past 100
Fill in missing numbers in a sequence
State Standards:
1.NSBT.1 Extend the number sequence to:
a. count forward by ones to 120 starting at any number;
b. count by fives and tens to 100, starting at any number;

Context: For this lesson students will get a better feel for understanding the numbers that come
after 100. They will be tasked with using their knowledge of numbers and their sequence as well
as using addition and subtraction to find the correct answer. Students will also be able to work on
their teamwork skills and individual assessment skills throughout the lesson. This is a good
lesson for students in first grade because it is imperative for them to understand number
sequencing to move forward in mathematics. At the end they will be able to recognize numbers
up to 120 as well as following sequential addition and subtraction.
Data: To collect data from my students I will not only observe them throughout the class time on
their progress with comprehension as well as retrieval of learned material. I will also collect data
from a Khan Academy lesson that I will have students do as an exit ticket.

Procedures:
Introduction (15 minuets):
To begin the day I will first start with asking students about their weekend and if there was
anything they used math for during those days. After all responses I will get back into the lesson
and start with going over counting numbers up to 100. I would use the website Class Ace to go
over the numbers up to 100 as well as counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. Students will be able to
come up to the board and answer the questions asked in the game on the website.
Teacher Directed (10 Minuets):
During this part of the lesson, I will begin teaching the new material. I will start by writing
examples on the board for students to write down and try to solve first on their own with the use
of scratch paper. Those questions will include word problems and fill in the blanks. We will then
go over the correct answers. This part of the lesson will be able to tell me what things need to be
worked on more for the future. An in depth explanations of the different ways to find an answer
will be given with all questions allowing for a better understanding of what’s to come for the
students work yet to be assigned.
Collaborative (30 Minuets):
For a collaborative assignment during the lesson I will separate the class into three different
groups previously chosen. There will then be three different stations and three different
activities. They will have 10 minuets at each station to complete the stations. First station will be
utilizing counting dice that go by 2’s and 5’s. they will roll 4 dice and all the numbers it lands on
together. For the second station students will have an assignment on a tablet and will work
together to answer the questions on mymathlab. Lastly for the third station students will fill out a
worksheet individually but will be able to collaborate and help each other if needed.
Independent Digital (10 Minuets):
For the independent digital assignment I will create a Khan academy assignment students will
complete in the last 10 minuets of class. After I will be able to see the students progress from
their scores. From their scores I will be able to plan my next class accordingly and focus on the
parts students seem to be struggling with.
Closure (5):
The closure to this lesson with be quick and easy, we will go over the answers to the worksheets
that all the students should have gotten to and completed. Students at this time will be able to ask
any questions they would like answered quickly and then they will head out and to their next
class.
