Audiovisual reviews were a news article that allowed people to write reviews on current
production media as well as pop culture in the eighties. In their article there is a review
on a series of tv shows for sale that showed women how to work on their own cars. The
journals review gives relevant information on what things vehicles need for
maintenance thirty years later to present day.

This article was helpful in providing me with a review about basic maintenance every car
should need and what the most important things others should know how to do as well
allowing me to think of more videos I can make with this information. The section I found
most helpful was when the reviewer talks about how the videos are short, simple, straight to
the point and don’t have loud music which I will be applying towards my own videos where I
will keep a very concise video with only the ‘meat and potatoes’ of the video.

2) M n M auto sports (2016). Where general maintenance meets automotive excellence.

Having a general maintenance program for your vehicle can allow automotive
technicians to keep your vehicle running well. In the article M n M auto sports talks
about having a good attention to detail as to the condition of your vehicle. The article
tells the reader to regularly do routine checks on their vehicle and if they notice
anything major wrong to contact a professional.

This article was helpful in providing me with professional expertise on how to routinely
check a vehicles condition looking at basic fluids and tires. The part in which I find most
helpful is when it states, “Make it a practice to get back to the basics and do a "walk
around" of your vehicle each time before you drive” (M n M auto sports). I will be using
and reiterating this message throughout my videos on this subject so I can help to further
address the needs and what to look out for on a vehicle before you drive. I will explain when
you should be able to do your own maintenance and when it is best to let a professional do
the work.

Millennials have become the largest generation in the United States and have the
biggest influence in the automotive aftermarket. A survey was put out for 1000
consumers and 150 auto technicians, and two major things were found, millennials
regularly defer automotive maintenance and repairs. As well millennials are more at
risk of driving a vehicle in a potentially risky situation.

This article is extremely helpful with the survey to show that my generation and the
generation between me and my parents do not care for their vehicles enough because they
actively choose not to learn. The point in the article that stood out to me the most was when it
talks about the company ‘AC Delco’ holding seminars in garage shops to show young people
how to service their own cars. This is something that is very interesting to me as I am wanting to
do something similar by filming and showing my friends hands on how to work on their own
cars.

Performing regular and seasonal maintenance can not only save you money in the
long run, but it also ensures your vehicle is safe to transport you. Vehicles are
“Much like a person's health, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” (SK
automotive). The more you pay attention to your vehicle the more the vehicle will be
better for you, in other words do your maintenance and you won’t be having bigger
issues.

This article is well written in which it can relate how a vehicles health is like that of a
human being, cars get sick (break down) it is your job to heal it back (fix it). The major
things to take away and to look out for in your vehicle which I will be directly connecting
back to my capstone project is to watch out for; brakes, tires, oil levels and air
conditioning which require regular service.

After the winter months it is time to get your vehicle prepared for the warmer months
in spring and summer to make sure it is safe to drive. The article recommends you
switch out your winter tires for summers or all seasons and get an alignment done to
ensure your vehicle rides straight. Warmer months put much more strain on your
vehicles fluids so it is important to have them inspected and replaced, if necessary, most
of which can be done at home.

This article talks about some very important things that many people overlook on their
vehicles during the year and is something I want to touch on in my capstone. Since spring is
right around the corner now is the perfect time to teach my peers about swapping their tires
over and determining if their fluids are all good or need replacing.
