Sub: Electrical Safety Week during l"week of May 2022.
Ref: Railway Board tetter No.2oo7/Etect(G)/113/4 dated o4.os.zozo

As per Railway Board's instructions vide Ref (1), 1 week of May of every year is being
observed as Electrical Safety Week. In this regard, it is requested to observe Electrical
Safety Week during the lweek of May 2022 (from OLIOS/2z to O7/OS/2Z) on your
Division/unit and undertake various activities which promote electricat safety aspects &
make it a continued process.
The activities to be undertaken duly following Covid Protocols, during the Electrical Safety
Week are as detailed below:
1, Posters and banners depicting Electrical safety week measures.
2. Safety seminars on Electrical Safety aspects especially safety precautions to be taken
while working or passing through 25kv a.c. electrified area..
3. Special drive for checking of electrical installations including earthResistance
4. Training of electrical supervisors and staff.
5. Awareness regarding Electricity Rules particularly, role of Electricalinspectors
6. Coverage and publicity through media.
ST.DEE/TrD, ST.DEE/M, ST.DEE/ELS to take active role in organizing quizzes, safety
seminars, safety pledges, safety rally's, safety meetings to bring awareness among
Railway Staff and public about safety precautions to be taken at work places, station areas
etc.

General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for S & T Staff:
Dos :

(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres.

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TpC elther directly oi
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through neirest
available telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) While working on signal posts, keep away from the OHE live conductors, if
required take pre-arranged power block and permit to work from TrD
authorized representative.

(4) Always use approved insulated tools for working in electrified territory viz,,
rubber gloves , tools with insulated handles.

Don'ts :

(1) D,o not wo_rk on any portion of a signal post or tts fittings falling within a
distance of 2 m from 25 KV live OHE unless such portion i; protected with a
metallic screen or power to the live OHE has been switched off and a permit
to work has been obtained. paint a red band of locm wide all around the
signal post at a height of 3 m above the rail level at such locations. Counsel
the staff accordingly.

(2) Do not depute the staff to work on a signal post where protective screen is
not provided without obtaining permit to work from the authorized traction
staff.

(3) D-o not carry out any works within a distance of 2 meters
from the live parts
of overhead traction wires unless the traction wires are made dead and
earthed and Permit to work is obtained from an authorized traction staff.

(4) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.

(5) Do not disturb track bonding/earthing ofTrD installations.

(6) Do not touch the two ends of fractured rails with bare hands.

(7) Do not change track circuits without the knowledge of traction staff.
(Annexure 2)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for Engineering Staff:
Dos :

(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TPC either directly or
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest
available telephone, If the damaqe is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) The risk of direct contact with the live OHE is ever present while working in
electrified sections such as for painting of steel work of through spans of
bridges and platform covered sheds etc., Therefore no work shall be done
within a distance of 2 m from the live OHE without a permit-to-work. Also
no tool or any part of the body of the worker comes within the danger zone .

(4) The return current in the rails may cause a potential difference bet!'een two
ends of a fractured rail & at an insulated joint etc., provide temporary
electrical connection invariably.

(5) When unloading the rails along side of the track, do ensure that rails do
not touch each other to form a continuous metallic mass of length greater
than 300m .

(6) During maintenance/renewal of track , continuity of the rails shall invariably


be miintained. For bridging gaps which may be due to removal of flsh-
plates, breakage of rail elc., jumpers to be provided. The two ends of
iractuied rail lirould be temporarily connected by metallic jumpers of
approved design taking necessary precautions.

(71 Since relaying unit involves removal of existing rails along with all the
different iypls of traction bonds, provide temporary jumpers for passage of
return current till such time the permanent bonds are flxed to the new rails
(8) Maintain implantation as per SED(structure Erection Drg) in consultation with
TRD staff.
(9) In track circuited area, do not bridge insulated jointed rails with bare hands
or with any metallic article. Also do not have simultaneous contact with an
insulated iection of rail and non-insulated section of rails' Ensure availability
of TRD, S&T staff at site for removing and replacing the traction bonds and
jumpei/bonding connections wherever required. Cancel the block to resume
ihe normal traffic only after ensuring that the traction bonds/cable jumpers
have been reconnected by TRD , S&T staff.
(10) Do take care when carrying or handling long pipes, poles, ladders ,
overhanging on the shoulders which may inadvertently comes in contact with
or within 2 m of live OHE ,
(11) Do exercise a special care while working various Engineering machines in
electrified section so that the masts are not hit, mast foundations & traction
bonds are not damaged. Do always keep clear of all materials, the top of
foundation block of OHE mast. Keep the top of foundation blocks of traction
structures clear of all materials and tidy.

(12) Do give notice of 48 hrs in advance to the OHE staff before any alteration to
alignment or level of track /relaying work or any major work on track in
electrifled territory is carried out.

(13) Do ensure that while excavating or digging near a mast foundation the
foundation is not exposed. All such works to be done under intimation to
TrD staff.

(14) At LC gate do maintain approaching road level such that the clearance
between the top member of the LC height gauge and the road level shall not
exceed 4.67 m .

(15) Provide continuous protective screens /parapet walls on all FOBS/ROBS and
also ensure commissioning of FOBS only after completion of the work with all
statutory provisions like screening, electrical earthing of FOBS steel work
etc., Until then the entry for FOB under construction shall be physically
blocked for the use of public.

(16) While working on service buildings and structures in the proximity of OHE do
exercise special care to ensuTe that tools, measuring tapes, materials,
welding cables are not placed in a position where they are likely to fall or
may come in contact with OHE.

(17) While carrying out excavation works adjacent tracks and cabLe routes in an
electrified area take adequate precautions for the safety of staff and to avoid
damage to underground cables and rail bonds.

(18) No crane shall be worked adjacent to OHE unless such OHE is made dead
and earthed and authorized OHE staff is present.

(19) In case of wire snaps at level crossing , the Gate keeper shall immediately
make arrangements to stop all road traffic and inform the nearest station
master/TPClOHE section in-charge.

(20) As far as possible use closed wagons for Engineering material train.

No part of a tree shall be nearer than 4 m from the nearest live conductor.
(21) Any tree or branches likely to fall on live conductor should be cut or trimmed
periodically to maintain this clearance in the presence of authorized OHE
staff.

(22) Use only wooden stem Umbrellas in the electrified territory.

Don'ts :
(1) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.

(2) Do not touch fallen or hanging traction wires, In case the wires drop at a
level crossing, the Gate-keeper shall immediately make arrangements to
stop all road traffic and keep the public away.

(3) Avoid contact with the rails when an electrically hauled train is within 250m .

(4) Do not touch two ends of the rail with bare hands or any metallic articles the
insulated joints or rails in track circuited area. Gloves of approved quality
shall be used.

(5) Do not carry out any works within a distance of 2 meters from the live parts
of overhead traction wires unless the traction wires are made dead and
earthed and Permit to work is obtained from an authorized traction staff.

(6) Do not cut or trim tree near the traction OHE with out the presence of an
authorized traction staff and without obtaining Permit to work from
authorized traction staff.

(7) Do not disturb track bonding or bonding provided to OHE structures. If any
bond is disconnected/disturbed immediately inform to traction staff.

(8) Do not remove/loosen the fish plates without making a temporary


connection with a jumper of approved design.

(9) Do not have simultaneous contact with an isolated section of rail and non-
isolated section of rail of the same or other track in track circuited area.

(10) Do not use rails as route path, for sitting or for such other purposes.

(11) Don't carry long pipes, poles, ladders, vertically which will come within the
danger zone of 2 metres of live overhead traction equipment.

(12) Do not open temporary jumper with out informing the TRD staff.
(13) Do not hang/keep loose the welding cable while RoB works are under
pro9ress.
(14) Do not raise the rail level under FOBS, ROBS and other over line structures .
Do not sl€w track/re-align without the knowledge of traction staff.
(15) Do not use any kind of tools or metal articles such as paint pots, oil case,
metal bars etc., which can be either lifted or be dropped or be carried by the
wind on to the live OHE.
(Annexure 3)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for Mechanical (C &W & LOCO) Staff :

Dos:
(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres.

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TPC either directly or
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest
available telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) No crane shall be worked on or near OHE unless an authorized


representative of the OHE section is present . When so working , care shall
be taken to avoid hitting or damaging OHE structures

(4) Observe caution orders and signals exhibited by OHE staff working at site.

Don'ts :

( 1) Do not climb/get on to the locomotives/carriages standing below the OHE


unless the OHE is made dead and earthed.

(2) Never direct a jet from a hose towards OHE while filling water, the jet of
water should only be directed horizontally far away from the live OHE and
not vertically.

(3) Do not carry long poles or any other articles which may come within the
danger zone of 2 m of the live traction wires.

(4) Do not open water filling hydrants till the other end of the hose pipe has
been inserted in the tank of the carriage. Do not withdraw the hose pipe
from carriage tank till the hydrant is closed. This is necessary to avoid
accidental contact of a water jet with the live overhead traction wires.

(5) While attending the diesel loco do ensure that tools do not get within the
danger zone of the OHE. i.e. 2 m.

(6) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.
(Annexure -4)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautaons for Running Staff:
Dos :

(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres.

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TPC either directly or
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest
available telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) Report any abnormality in overhead traction, wires/equipments noticed over


the tracks to the nearest station masters. Obstructions if any , on adjoining
tracks should also be reported.

(4) Take adequate precautions for the train/locos in case their movement is
obstructed by the traction overhead equipment as per GR & SR .

(s) Observe caution orders and signals exhibited by the traction staff working at
site.

(6) Access to the roof of electric locos and ElvlUs is authorized only under the
conditions that the OHE has been made dead and earthed on both sides of
the loco/EMU by the OHE staff in accordance with procedure laid down. The
power block will be taken by OHE staff.

(7) To gain the access to the roof of locomotive by ladder, first operate the main
switch and take out the key for unlocking the ladder, After completion of the
work lock the ladder and release the key for operating the main isolating
switch.

(8) observe caution orders and signals exhibited by OHE staff working at site.

(e) AII the drivers to whistle freely one kilometer from the rear of the work spot
where OHE staff are working.

(10) At neutral sections obey the "trip DJ" "close DJ" signs displayed.

( 11) Whenever you are directed to "Lower panto" "Raise panto" caution order ,
be alert and obey the same meticulously.
Don'ts :

(1) Be alert and do not enter electric loco in to un-wired turnout.

(2) Do not attach any decorative/extension pieces to the locomotives.

(3) under any circumstances LPlALp not to climb roof of the diesel locomotive
for checking water level in expansion tank, physical inspection of horns
working & Replacing of flasher lights/Headlight bulbs.

(4) For PT phone usage in oHE section, sockets are to be utilized and pr phone
poles are strictly prohibited.

(5) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape,. tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.
(Annexure 5)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for Commercial Staff :

Dos :

(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead v.lires within 2 metres.

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the oHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TPC either directly or
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest
available telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) Ensure closing of flap doors of the wagons loaded or empty and secure
before being taken out from goods sheds to avoid OHE masts hit by open
doors of wagons and consequent accidents.

(4) Firmly tie the consignments being transported on the open wagons. There
shall not be any loose consignments that may hit OHE masts during run.

(5) In cases where the consignment is kept on insulated supports like military
truck or civil trucks on rubber tyres over an open wagon provide temporary
metallic connection between the body of the consignment and the wagon'
(7/16 SWG (cross sectional area 14.5 mm2) to avoid induction effect'
(6) Secure tarpaulins/plastic covers flrmly over the loaded wagons. Use good
quality of plastic so that it does not torn out and entangle with OHE during
run/due to wind,

(7) Warn & prevent travelling public not to travel on foot board/roof of coaches
and not to lean out of.the compartment.

Don'ts :

(1) Do not allow any person to un-load the material from the open wagons
unless the OHE is switched off & earthed.

(2) Do not allo\^r provision of hoarding boards in the vicinity of electrified tracks
falling of whi;h may damage OHE. Allow only if they are located at a safe
dista;ce from the track also their structural arrangements are properly
secuTed.

(3) Do not overload coal. The heap of the coal may touch oHE causing snapping
of OHE.
(4) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.

(4) For army staff :

(i) The staff should not get on to the roofs of the trucks loaded on the wagons
or should not come nearer to the traction wire as it may result in
electrocution. To that extent an undertaking is to be taken from military
officials.

(ii) The staff should not project any metallic parts towards traction wire while
tying the trucks to wagons with chains etc.,
(iii) The staff should not touch any traction wires over the trucks or wagon.

(iv) The staff should not lean out from compartment while train is in motion as
they may get hit by the traction masts.
(v) Do not use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.
(Annexure 6)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for Operating Staff :

Dos :

(1) Warn all the staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres.
(2) All the staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TPc either directly or through
any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest available
telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are infringed take
steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.
(3) On receipt of any information regarding breakage in traction overhead lines,
immediately advise OHE maintenance staff /fPC of the section .
(4) Operate OHE isolating switches with the instructions of TPC for minimizing the
faulty OHE elemertary section. Required competency certificates are already
issued. If any staff is not received competency certificate do approach
concerned OHE section in-charge. Use rubber gloves while operating isolating
switches.
(s) Do ensure to take longitudinal & transverse protection pertaining to the section
before issuing a power block. lnform all concerned offlcials regarding imposition
of power/traffic block. Place power block warning collars against the entry of
Electric Loco into dead section as per Station working rules.
(6) Allow movement of'ODCs only after sanction of competent authority. Inform
TPC/ OHE staff for movement of oDC as per stipulations .
(7) warn travelling public about the hazards of travelling on foot boards and on
roofs and projecting bodies outside the compartments.

(8) Give priority for movement of traction staff or tower wagons for quick protection
& restoration of OHE during breakdowns.
Don'ts I

(1) Do not allow any person to un-load the material from the open wagons unless
the OHE is switched off & earthed
(2) Do not allow any trains on to un-wired track. Ensure protection by placing a
power block warning collar on the signal lever controlling the concerned signals.
(3) Do not allow any electric loco with raised pantograph in to a dead section on
which power block enforced.
(4) Don't allow any train in to the section where OHE is snapped or obstructing
passage of trains unless the obstruction/infringements are removed and
clearance issued b!' Traction staff.

(s) Do use steel measuring tapes, metal tape, tape with woven metal
not
reinforcement & long metallic wire rods on the electrified track.
(Annexure 7)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for OHE Staff:
Dos :

(1) Warn all staff working under your control about the danger of coming in
close contact to the live traction overhead wires within 2 metres.

(2) All staff to report immediately any abnormality on the OHE which may
adversely affect safety of train movements to the TpC either direcfly or
through any Station Superintendent , Section controller or through nearest
available telephone. If the damage is heavy or the moving dimensions are
infringed take steps to protect the lines in accordance with G & SR.

(3) No work shall be done above or within a distance of 2 metres from the live
"
OHE without a Permit to work" Earth the OHE individually by each
working party as close to the work spot as possible. The distance between
the two earths shall not exceed 1 Km. If the distance between the working
gang exceeds 1 km intermediate earth shall be provided in such a manner
as to ensure that the distance between earths does not exceed 1 km. protect
each working party at least by two independent earths, one on each side of a
working party.
(4) Earth all large metallic structures such as fencing, structural steel work of
platforms running parallel to the track.
(s) Maintain electrical continuity between earth systems of petroleum
installations , the track and OHE installations at petroleum siding to avoid
any sparking during loading or unloading petroleum products.
(6) Bond and earth fencing posts in the vicinity of traction conductors .
(7) Compare rail level and setting distance with the orjginal figures, any
variation above 30mm in setting distance and 20 mm in rail level be advised
to PWI for correction. Do have annual joint check.
(B) Ensure availability of printed boards containing instructions regarding
treatment of persons suffering from electric shock in OHE depots, equip-ent
room, switching stations, cabin, tower caT, loco shed, , SNt, Dy.SS, CyN4, AyM
and CTXR rooms.
(e) Test all T&P frequently so as to keep them in good fettle.
(10) Counsel staff working under you regularly regarding safety precautions while
working in electrified sections. Also counsel staff working in private sidings.
( 11) Earth all metallic parts within reach after they are made dead.
(12) Even when earthing is provided by isolator switches with earthing heels,
additional temporary earths shall also be provided both side of the isolator at
two points.
(13) Renew earth discharge cable if more than 2oolo strands broken.
(74) Wear protective helmets, gloves, safety belts etc., while working.
(1s) Inspect and ensure updating of SWRS regularly and counsel staljon staff.
( 16) Ensure all insulating sleeves on traction bonds passing under positive rail of
track circuits are intact and take prompt action to replace the
missing/damaqed one.
(17) to be taken by private parties i.e private
Advise all the safety precautions
siding owners about the safety precautions to be taken in electrified
sections. Counsel the staff and obtain assurance.
(18) Hold ladder/ladden trollies firmly while working.
(1e) Secure the ladder trolley properly after completion of the work so that there
is no possibility oF sabotage. It is better to keep the trolleys at the nearest
station or LC gate.
(20) Ensure /keep first aid box contents stocked in tower car.
(21) Be ware of restricted clearances and work cautiously at such locations.
(22) Take prescribed traffic protection during the work.
(23) All messages relating to shut down and restoration of power supply, permit
to work etc., issued over the telephones shall invariably be supported by
exchange of private number and repeated twice .

Don'ts :

(1) Do not touch fallen wire unless power is switched off and the wire is suitably
earthed. Ends of (:onductors which may have snapped should be separately
earthed at two polnts after switching off supply to both parts of the OHE.
This precaution shrould also be observed when working or in the vicinity of a
sectioning point and cut- in- insulators.
(2) Do not stand or sit on foundations carrying counter weight assembly.
(3) Do not stand on irsulators.
(4) Do not carry heavy materlals on ladder trollies.
(s) Do not use ladder trolley as a temporary earthing device.
(6) Do not drive tower car beyond power block working limit board.
(7) Do not throw tools; and materials from top.
(8) Do not keep the ladder trollies in vertical position close to the running track.
Do not use metallic ropes for ladders , only use ropes made of cotton or jute.
(e) Do not use steel tape, or metallic tape or tape with woven metal
reinforcement in the electrified area.
(10) Do not allow ladders to fall or rest against the contact wire.
(11) Do not wear loose clothes while working on OHE.
(12) Always wear rubber sole shoe while working.
(13) Do not tie the rope on rail without taking traffic block
(t+) Do not allow working personnel to stand directly below a work spot under a
ladder.
(15) Forbid contact with conductors which are not specifically earthed '
(Annexure -8)
General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for Public:
Don'ts :

(1) Do not forget that overhead traction wires are always alive with 25,000 Volts
and dangerous & therefore do not climb on to or travel on roof of
locomotives, coaches and wagons.
(2) There is heavy induction voltage on all metallic structures such as fencings,
structural steel work of platforms running parallel to the track and
conductors in the vicinity of the electrified track. Also dangerous inductive
effects will exist on metallic conductors , power lines running parallel and
close to the electrified track, hence public are warned to keep away from
electric traction wires and fittings.
(3) Public are forbidden to approach or come in contact with such wires and
fittings directly in person or through articles such as poles, bamboos, metallic
rods etc., as it is likely to prove dangerous.
(4) No one shall attempt to work on any overhead line running alongside the
electrifled tracks without taking special precautions of earthing on both sides
of the work.
(s) No work shall be done above or withln a distance of 2 m from the live OHE
without a permit-to-work.
Do not touch or catch any objects such as kite threads, wires etc,, hanging
from traction wire.
(6) Trespassing in electrified station yards is strictly prohibited for your own
safety.
(7) Do not climb/touch structures supporting overhead wires and conductors.
Also do not climb on the platform roof/structures in electrified area.
(8) Do not project any metallic parts or pour water from foot over bridges/road
over bridges on to overhead wires and conductois.
(e) Do not lean out from compartment while train is in motion as you may get
hit by traction masts.
(10) Do not travel on top of road vehicles passing through level crossings.
( 11) Do not pass through level crossings with consignments higher than the
height gauge level.
(12) Do not sit or stand on traction structure foundations carrying balance
weights.
(13) Do not try to meddle with the electrical connections to rail as they carry
heavy currents.
(14) Do not walk/pass through the snapped/hanging loose OHE conductor.
( 1s) Do not carry vertically long poles /any other articles in the vicinity of
overhead conductors.
(16) Do not touch any broken or hanging traction wires/ flttings of OHE hanging
above/near the track.
( 18) Don't fly kites above the OHE and near OHE
(1e)
Don't touch the kite strings/other foreign materials hanging from OHE
(20) Don't disturb the traction bonds in the rails
(21) Don't throw waste/garbage/leaves/kites/tyre/wires etc., on OHE.

Safety Precautions for Public while using Level Crossings I

(23) Don't cross the LC with overloaded vehicles above 4.67 m.


(24) Don't travel on the roof of bus/lorry while crossing Level crossings in
electrified area.

(25) Don't damage the height gauges with overloaded vehicles.

The dangers of a load of excessive height are as followsr

(27) Danger to the height gauge and consequent obstruction to the road as well
as the Railway line.
(28) Danger to the materials or equipment carried or the vehicle itself.
(29) Danger of fire and risk of life due to contact with or dangerous proximity to
the conductors.

General Safety Precautions to be observed in Electrified Territory
Safety Precautions for loading/un-loading staff in electrified area:

Each staff workino in loadino/unloadinq area (viz, clearinq/Forwardinq / carting


(rl aoents. labourers: lorrv driv-Crs, cleane?s and qoods shed-staff) should be
educatad reqardiriq th6 danqe6 of climbing on wagons and thereby coming into
unsafe working zone of 2 mTrom the live OHE.

(2) Care should be taken not to go near OHE within 2 m while using tarpaulin/ropes
on the consignment in the lorry.

(3) No work shall be done within a distance of 2 m from the 25 kV oHE without
-irfr tfre supply and obtaining a "permit-to-work" from an authorised

(4) Don't climb on the wagons under the live OHE.


(5) Don't approach or come in contact with 25 kV OHE wires and fittings directly in
