The Four Pillars of Learning is proposed as a framework to understand what students

need to acquire and develop in themselves. Knowing these pillars and applying them to your
own learning can help you develop the KSAVs required to fulfil your tasks and roles as a
provider of quality and relevant education to your students.

The Four Pillars of Learning – Learning to Know, Learning to Do, Learning to Live
Together, and Learning to be contributes to the holistic development of an individual by:
Learning to know pillar helps the holistic development of an individual by developing the mind
through in one’s concentration, memory, skills and ability to think that is needed to function in
the world including numeracy, literacy and critical thinking. Learning to do pillar helps the
holistic development of one’s individual by enhancing the acquisition of skills that are often
linked to occupational success, such as computer learning, managerial training and
apprenticeships and with those acquired skills, learners will feel empowered because they know
what to do. Learning to live together helps the holistic development of one’s individual by
developing socio-emotional aspect and it involves broadening the attitudes toward ourselves.
With Learning to Live together learners will live in harmony knowing that they know how to
respect each other. Learning to be helps the holistic development of one’s individual by
fostering personal development (body, mind and spirit) and contributing to creativity, personal
discovery and an appreciation of the inherent value provided by these pursuits and it aims to the
development of all the dimensions of the complete person. With all of this, all the four pillars of
learning ensures that a person fully develops their own potentials in all aspects of their
personalities.

I learned that with the 4 pillar working which are Learning to Know, Learning to Do,
Learning to Live Together, and Learning to be they will help the learners to develop their full
potential by understanding each other and respecting each other and together they will live in
harmony. By completing this they will have a good role in the society. The report presented a
framework that organized lifelong learning into four pillars: learning to know, learning to live
together, learning to do, and learning to be. The four pillars of learning are seen as fundamental
principles for reshaping 21st century education.
