2. Modification
It is possible replacing the normal glass windshield by a bullet proof windshield for
increasing the safety of the shovel operator.

To prevent leaks and damages due to strains and stresses during
the installation of windshields proceed as follows:
• to carry out the described job, two persons are required;
• It is easier to handle the windshield by using suction pad
holders.

• Remove the window shade (if available) and the old windshield.
• Check the windshield opening of the cab by using a ruler (1 m) if it is flat.
Maximal tolerance 0.5 mm per 1 m; correct if necessary.
• Place the windshield into the opening of the cab.
The frame has to fit easily (without strains and stresses) into the opening.
Correct if necessary.
• Pay attention that the shock absorbing strip of the windshield is on the bottom side.
• Drill the bores in the window frame exactly one to one to the old drilling pattern.
• Drill four additional bores as described below
(Only for the windshields no. two and three).
• Take out the new windshield; remove nicks and burrs; clean frames of cabin and
window.
• Apply plenty sealing material (silicone PN 798 074 73) to the frame of the
windshield.
• Place the windshield into the opening.
• Bring the bores quickly into the line, because the sealing material becomes sticky
after a few minutes.
• Tighten all screws snugly until the sealing material squeeze out.
• Tighten the screws crosswise for avoiding of strain.
• Wipe off and smooth out the squeezed sealing material with soap-suds.
• After installation of the front windshield the sealing material needs about 10 hours to
harden.
• Install the windows shape.
