In the instructions, the procedure is explained on the assumption that the workpiece fixing unit
is attached to the main spindle and that the center port is fixed to the workpiece fixing unit.
[Instructions]
1) Ensure the working environment suited to the maintenance work, referring to "♦Auxiliary
Work Accompanying Maintenance Work" in the instruction manual for the Rotary Table.
Z-039-D
2
2) Loosen the lock metal fixing bolts (2-M6), and remove the lock metal from the guard plate.
3) Put a match mark across the manifold and the guard plate with a felt pen.
4) Remove one fixing bolt among the manifold fixing bolts (3-M5) from the manifold.
5) Insert the guide bolt into the tapped hole from which the manifold fixing bolt was removed.
6) Put a match mark across the guide bold and the manifold with a felt pen.
∗ The match mark will be used for reference when mounting the manifold on the valve.
7) Remove the two remaining manifold fixing bolts from the manifold.
9) Put a match mark across the guide bolt and the valve with a felt pen.

10) Remove the guide bolt from the valve.
11) Put a match mark across the guard plate and the main body frame with a felt pen.
12) Loosen the guard plate fixing bolts (8-M5 or 8-M6), and remove the guard plate from the
rear cover.
13) Loosen the bearing presser fixing bolts (M4), and remove the bearing presser from the
distributor.
14) Put a match mark across the distributor and the main spindle with a felt pen.
∗ The match mark will be used for reference when mounting the distributor on the center port.
15) Loosen the distributor fixing bolts (6-M4), and remove the rotary joint unit from the center
port with the valve and the distributor mounted.
∗ Rotate the valve to align the through hole on the valve with one of the distributor fixing bolts,
and loosen the distributor fixing bolts.
∗ Remove the rotary joint unit with the distributor fixing bolts remaining in the counter bore
holes on the distributor.

Weight
4
∗ The end face of the valve has three M5-tapped holes. Insert the removing bolts into these
tapped holes (3-M5) together with weights.
Move the weight quickly to the head of the removing bolt in the direction of the arrow shown
in the reference figure, and using this force, pull the valve out.
∗ When the valve is pulled out, the bearing (6702) is removed from the distributor as well.
The bearing (6703) remains in the distributor.
However, the bearing (6703) may also be removed from the distributor together with the
valve depending on the situation.
18) Remove the seals from the removed parts, clean these parts and seals, and if any part is
damaged, replace it with a new one.
19) Apply a light coat of grease to seven rotary seals (TDK-IE0451-171.2), and attach them to
the designated grooves on the valve.
20) Insert the distributor fixing bolts (6-M4) into the counter bore holes on the distributor.
∗ If the bearing (6703) was pulled out together with the valve from the distributor, insert the
bearing (6703) into the designated position on the valve before joining.
22) Join the bearing (6702) into the valve and the distributor.
23) Put a light coat of grease to six O-rings (SS050, Hs90), and attach them to the designated
O-ring grooves on the distributor.
24) Align the match marks on the main spindle and the distributor and mount the distributor with
the valve on the center port.
Tighten the distributor fixing bolts (6-M4) with a torque of 4.7 N m.•
∗ Rotate the valve to align the through hole on the valve with one of the distributor fixing bolts,
and tighten the distributor fixing bolts.
26) Hold the valve by hand directly and make two or three turns in the normal and reverse
directions.

5
∗ Insert two bolts into the tapped holes (3-M5) at the end face of the valve, and turn these
valve using these bolts.
∗ This operation is to fit the rotary seals on the valve to the distributor and check that there
is no problem with the bearing. If the valve does not rotate smoothly, check the conditions
of the valve, distributor, rotary seals and bearing.
27) Align the match marks on the guard plate and the main body frame, and attach the guard
plate to the rear cover.
Set the washers and tighten the guard plate fixing bolts.
8-M5 : 7.8N m•
28) Align the match marks between the valve and the guide bolt, and insert the guide bolt into
the tapped hole on the valve.
29) Apply grease to six O-rings (SS050, Hs90), and attach them to the designated O-ring
grooves on the valve.
30) Align the match marks between the guide bold and the manifold, and tentatively secure the
manifold to the valve.
∗ Set a washer and insert one manifold fixing bolt to tentatively secure the manifold to the
valve and remove the guide bolt.
31) Insert the two remaining manifold fixing bolts (2-M5) to secure the manifold to the valve.
Set the washers and tighten the manifold fixing bolts (3-M5) with a torque of 9.3 N m. •
32) Align the match marks on the manifold and the guard plate, and attach the lock metal to
the guard plate.
Set the washers and tighten the lock metal fixing bolts (2-M6) with a torque of 13.2 N m. •
∗ Tighten the lock metal until its side comes into contact with the manifold.

1) Do not apply a force greater than the allowable load to the manifold.
∗ Applying a force greater than the allowable load could cause damage to the valve,
distributor and seals.

Continuous ...................F = 200 N
Momentary ...................F = 400 N

2) Turn on the power only when operating the Rotary Table, and use manual
control devices for operation. When operation has been completed, turn the
power (primary power) off.
∗ Connect the interface cable only when it is necessary for the maintenance work and
disconnect it if not necessary.
1) To fit the rotary seals on the valve with the distributor, rotate the main spindle
in both forward and reverse directions two or three times.
∗ By rotating the main spindle, the rotary seals will contact the distributor smoothly.

♦Troubleshooting
Trouble Condition
For the categories listed in the table, refer to "♦Troubleshooting" in the Manual for the Rotary
Table.
Trouble condition 1. The rotary joint unit does not operate properly.
Possible causes Category Measures
If the workpiece fixing unit suddenly malfunctions, either the workpiece fixing unit or the rotary
joint unit is faulty. Check the workpiece fixing unit and the rotary joint unit separately and locate
the problem. If the workpiece fixing unit by the machine tool manufacturer is used, follow the
instructions in the machine tool instruction manual.
[If a seal adheres or clings to the valve or distributor after a long interval in use]
If the Rotary Table is stopped for a week or longer, the seal of the rotary joint unit may have
adhesion or clinging. In this case, take the action as described below.
1) Supply the rotary joint unit with hydraulic oil and wait a few hours until the contact points
between the valve or the distributor and the seals are lubricated. Then, operate the Rotary
Table at a low speed.
2) If the Rotary Table cannot be operated following 1) above, attach a wrench to the end of
the worm spindle, and manually and directly rotate the worm spindle to rotate the rotary
joint unit.
3) If you find a working fluid leak from the rotary joint unit during trial run after you rotated the
rotary joint unit directly by hand in step 2), overhaul the rotary joint unit and check the
conditions of the constituent parts and seals.
4) If the rotary joint unit cannot be rotated following step 2) above, overhaul the rotary joint
unit, and check the conditions of the valve, distributor and seals.
