Teambuilding 101

General Rule (Personal) – Pokemon -> Moves -> Items -> EVs
*Fill everything first. Example 6 pokemon muna then lagyan mo moves lahat, then items lahat,
then EVs. If you are starting from scratch wag yung isang pokemon kukumpletuhin mo agad
build niya.

STEP 1 – Identify the meta.

- Better to search resources like https://pikalytics.com/ , https://victoryroadvgc.com/ ,
https://www.babiri.net/ and other Pokemon related sites (Twitter and Reddit is must
check)
- Personal method: I choose which core/pokemon I am annoyed the most. Legit ‘to. Based
on grievance sa isang core yung madalas na ginagawa kong inspiration for team
building.
- Check the duration of ruleset. (Baka mamaya gagawa ka team for this ruleset tapos
patapos na pala, so better manage your time and focus ka na sa susunod na ruleset.)

STEP 2 – Choose a SINGLE Pokemon you want to work around with.

- Sobrang misconception ‘tong part na ‘to kasi dumidirekta sa core agad mga players.
Kapag kasi core agad inisip mo, ikukulong mo na yung team mo sa strat nay un. Better
to start with a single Pokemon.
- Choose a Pokemon that is either a.) Counter sa meta or b.) Meta
STEP 3 – Choose the best partners for your Step 2 Pokemon
- Make sure na maximum members mo at this point is 4 pa lang.
- Always leave minimum of 2 slots open on this part.
STEP 4 – Conceptualize the synergies (of the 4 Pokemon)
- You can start putting CRUCIAL moves first. Examples are Trick Room, Tailwind, Fake
Out, Redirections, Swords Dance/Nasty Plot, etc.
- As much as possible, avoid putting attack moves here (unless support attacking move).
- At this point, malalaman mo na kung ilang moveslot pa ba open for your attacks.
- Remember na may two (2) pokemon slots ka pa na open sa team, don’t pressure
yourself makakadagdag ka pa.
STEP 5 – Check (without taking into consideration the possible attack coverage) the
threats and dangers of your team.
- Important: don’t take into consideration the possible attack coverages.
- Make a list if possible para hindi mailto.
STEP 6 – Fill in the last slots in your team!

- Technically, alam mo na threats sa team mo, so time to fill up the remaining slots para
ma-counter yung mga yun!
STEP 7 – MOVES

- Fill ka na ng moves. Make sure to have a lot of STAB moves and COVERAGE moves.
- Consider the meta. Ex. Is it better to have Thunder Punch or Ice Punch? Ganyang mga
dilemma masasagot mo dapat.
STEP 8 – ITEMS

- Given na ata ‘to HAHA.

- Ito wag mo kakalimutan: sobrang OP ng berries na nagrereduce ng damage ng specific
type (ex. Shuca, Wacan, Babiri, Occa, etc.)
STEP 9 – EVs

- Ito yung mga dapat mong checklist:

- Which attack should I survive?
- Can I outspeed this certain threat?
- Is it possible to kill this pokemon (as much as possible OHKO or 2HKO) with this
move?
STEP 10 – TEST
- Grind mo lang sa Pokemon Showdown then adjust adjust tuwing may nakikitang mali
but don’t compromise the first 9 steps.
