Celtic Knot Fingerless Gloves

Supplies:
[ ] 100g worsted yarn
[ ] US 5 (3.75mm) double pointed knitting needles (or circular)
[ ] cable needle
[ ] 1 large sewing needle

Abbreviations:
k – knit
p – purl
cfp1k2 – slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, p1 then k2 off the
cable needle.
cbk2p1 – slip 1 st onto cable needle and hold to the back, k2 then p1 off the
cable needle.
cfk4 – slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the front, k2 sts then k2 off of the
cable needle.
cbk4 – slip 2 sts onto cable needle and hold to the back, k2 sts then k2 off of the
cable needle.
Glove Pattern:
Note that this pattern is worked from top down, i.e., the part you cast on will be where
your fingers come through.
Cast on 40 stitches (13 on first needle, 14 on second needle and 13 on third needle).

Row 1: (k2, p2) to end.


Rows 2-5: Repeat Row 1.

Note from this point on you can refer to the chart below for the cabling.
Row 6: (k2, p2)x5, knit to end.
Rows 7-9: Repeat Row 6.
Row 10: (k2,p2)x2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 11: k2, p2, k2, p3, cbk4, p3, k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 12: (k2,p2)x2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 13: Repeat Row 6.
Row 14: k2, p2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, knit to end.
Row 15: k2, p3, cfk4, p4, cfk4, p3, knit to end.
Row 16: k2, p2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 17: Repeat Row 6.
Row 18: (k2,p2)x2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 19: For right glove: k2, p2, k2, p3, cbk4, p3, k2, p2, k4, with scrap yarn k5 (thumb
hole), switch back to regular yarn, knit to end.
For left glove: k2, p2, k2, p3, cbk4, p3, k2, p2, k13, with scrap yarn k5 (thumb
hole, switch back to regular yarn, knit to end.
Row 20: (k2,p2)x2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, k2, p2, knit to end.
Row 21: Repeat Row 6.
Row 22: k2, p2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, cfp1k2, cbk2p1, p2, knit to end.
Row 23: k2, p3, cfk4, p4, cfk4, p3, knit to end.
Row 24: k2, p2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, cbk2p1, cfp1k2, p2, knit to end.
Rows 25-32: Repeat Rows 9-16.
Rows 33-40: Repeat Rows 9-16.
Rows 41-44: Repeat Rows 9-12.
Rows 45: (k2, p2)to end.
Rows 46-48: Repeat Row 45.
Cast off.
Thumb Pattern:
Pick up the 10 stitches made by the scrap yarn on either side of the thumb hole and
pull the scrap yarn out. Pick up 2 stitches on the outer edge between the two rows, and
pick up 3 stitches on the inner edge, totalling 15 stitches. Divide them evenly between
the needles (5 sts each).
Row 1: k15.
Row 2-8: Repeat Row 1.
Cast off.

Finish off the edges with the sewing needle and tuck all ends away.
