ACTIVITY 3: GOALS, OUTCOMES AND OBJECTIVES

Directions: Watch the video clips on the difference of GOALS, OUTCOMES and OBJECTIVES. Using the
concepts learned, formulate 1 particular goal in a particular topic in your area of specialization, 3
learning outcomes, and 3 learning objectives in each identified learning outcomes.

Topic: Research in Language and Literature: It’s importance for the Student’s learning
Goal: The goal of a research in language and literature is to bring together different points of view,
evidence and facts on a topic from books, articles and interviews with regards to the topic given. Then
interpret the information by students in his own writing. Students should be able to identify, analyze,
interpret and describe the critical ideas, values, and themes that appear in literary and cultural texts
and understand the way these ideas, values, and themes inform and impact culture and society, both
now and in the past.

Learning Outcomes (LO):


1. Languages and Literatures seeks to educate students to be global citizens, with the ability
and sensitivity to communicate with people of different cultures and literatures.
2. Create texts written in a variety of literary genres that demonstrate the ability to apply
literary techniques and discriminate between aesthetic values.
3. Students will practice critical thinking and reading skills, so that they can come up with
original ideas, rather than simply echoing the ideas of others.

Learning Objectives (From LO1):


1. An awareness of the various populations and cultures / literatures in which these
languages are spoken and of the sociolinguistic aspects of these languages.
2. Demonstrate a clear understanding of the literature and language studied.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic literary and cultural manifestations of a foreign
language.

Learning Objectives (From LO2):


1. Interpret texts in a variety of genres by performing close-up reading.
2. Analyze texts from a variety of theoretical perspectives.
3. Students should be able to identify, analyze, interpret and describe critical ideas, values,
and themes that appear in literary and cultural texts, and understand how these ideas,
values, and themes affect culture and society both now and in the future. Past.

Learning Objectives (From LO3):


1. Language and literature have an important influence on improving pupils’ skills in the use
of language and knowledge of literature.
2. Develop an understanding of the relationships between language and literature studies
and other disciplines.
3. Develop your listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, presentation and speaking
skills.
