Photo edit for music magazine cover

This is my original image, which was darker than I

hoped due to poor lighting when I took it.

I first decided I needed

to lighten my image so I
used the brightness and
contrast tool so that my
artist would stand out
more and mostly so the
audience could see her
face.

The photo looked

much better after I
increased the
brightness and
changed the contrast
slightly.

I then decided to use the spot healing brush tool to remove any imperfections on my artists face.
This was to reflect the same practice on magazine covers to promote the cover person as someone
to aspire to be like and create the perfect looking skin.

My artist’s skin looks clearer after I

have used the healing brush tool,
making her face look healthier and
more appealing for the magazine front
cover.

My nex step was to remove the radiator at the back of the image as I felt it did not look that
professional to have it behind my artist for the front cover. I decided to use the clone-stamp tool as
it could easily copy the wall colouring in the room and used to cover over the radiator.

After the clone tool had been used the image looks much sharper and cleaner but I needed to make
the join between the ground and the wall look more realistic.

I decided to use the burn tool as it would enable me to create a shadow effect around my artist and
around the walk/floor join. This also made sure the artist stood out from the clean white
background and was a good final image to use for my magazine cover.
