7 Elements of Art

I made my coffee painting using the “7 Elements of Art” as my guide to portray the painting that I want
to do.

First, I used Lines to form the moon. Then, I used vertical and horizontal lines to add a border to my
painting for me able to be able to be guided in which area I am going to start and it serves as my border.
I also used a vertical line to make the stem of the trees and a diagonal line for its branches.

Then, I used a Sphere shape to create a moon. It has no edges or vertices and has one continuous
surface. It helped me to express and portray the idea that I want and emphasize my area of interest.

Afterward, I used abstract to create and form an illusion and to emphasize the structure of the moon
that we usually see in the sky during nighttime together with the trees underneath, using form helped
me to represent the figures with realistic outcomes.

To enhance the illusion of the painting I added value to it, by the changes in the color of the areas in the
painting from brighter elements to darker elements. This is to emphasize the different areas in my
painting This serves as the focal point of a painting.

For the texture, I used different layers of coffee paint to emphasize the texture of the element that I am
doing, for trees I used 2 layers to make it optically look as if it is rough as what a real tree's texture is.

Color, as we all know that attracts the eyes of the viewers. This serves as the focal point of a painting. I
made the background a darker color to emphasize the moon as if it is the only light that we can get
during the night, the darkness has reflected the trees and water underneath by showing little brightness
from the reflection of the moon above.

Lastly, I used Space to create shape and perspective. As you can see that the moon seems near when
you are close to the ocean, it is because you can see it over the horizon with only trees underneath.
