School: Blossom Elementary

Grade: Kindergarten Grade

Mentor: Mrs. Kourtney Roddy

First Day being in the Classroom

I had arrived in the morning, I was able to see how they start out their day. They start with saying the days of
the week, months of the years, and they talk about the weather in the morning. They also count to one
hundred by ones, fives, and tens. And then they get started on their morning work.

While they are doing that Mrs. Roddy asked if the students could read me a book about the letter of the
alphabet that they would be going over that week. I absolutely loved having them read to me.
Different classes

During Kindergarten at Blossom Elementary, the students don’t change classes they just go to the gym and
they either learn about their bodies or exercise. Or they go to computer or art class.

While in art the students would do a drawing or have something that needs to be created for the following
holiday that would be near. In gym class they would go over health and then either play in the gym or go
outside and run till they would run out of energy and get ready to head back into the classroom with Mrs.
Roddy
Difficulties

As expected there were some kids who didn’t grasp onto some ways of teaching. Mrs. Roddy could tell when
some kids would be struggling or just not understanding the lesson.

She would go over the instructions again or have them get with their desk buddy and let them help them till
they would be able to understand.

Another difficulty would be that sometimes students want to talk to their friends, which is okay but she
would let them know when it is time to get work done, it was time. When they are finish is when they can
talk to their friends.
Overall

Overall, I was giving a great experience and it was very helpful for me in the future. It had given many ideas
and I know as the years come by I will be given many more. And even though she is a teacher, she has told
me that she is constantly learning new things and that will never change. Being there has showed me that not
all students are the same, the won’t learn the same pace, and the won’t succeed the same way.
