What to do in case of fire?

Fire usually starts because of candles being lit and electrical problems. Stoves can also be a reason for
fire to start. Fire cases also increased in Philippines in the year 2021 and 2022. Some people die because
of these incidents. It can be because of not being able to breath or suffocation, being stuck in a room or
collapsing of a building or a house.

Araneta Coliseum is an example of this kind of incidents. Last April 19, 2022 a fire started at around
11:00 pm. This happened when the 3 by 3 second conference grand finals of the PBA was being held.
Because of this they had to stop the game. They say that faulty wiring can be the reason for the fire to
start.

In 1:00 am they declared that it's a fire out. So they cancelled the game six of the governor's cup finals.
So the players, staff, and basketball fanatics would be safe. They explained that they didn't expect for
this to happen. So they refunded the tickets. Thankfully no one was hurt.

But we can also prevent these kinds of incidents. Cooking and heating are also some of the leading
causes of home fires. So if you’re sleepy, don't use an oven or stovetop. It's better if you stay in the
kitchen if you’re cooking and use a timer. And a smoke alarm system can also help you detect if there is
fire.

But if the fire is already raging, what should we do? Instantly go find your family. Once you’re going to
leave your house cover your nose and mouth. The smoke is toxic and will cause you to faint. Once you
are already outside, call the fire department.

Do not attempt to go back in the burning building. If your clothes caught fire, do not panic. Instantly
drop and roll until the fire is put out. This will lessen the injuries.

The Angeles City Bureau of Fire Protection had launch the Fire Prevention Month 2022 last March,
despite the efforts of spreading awareness and programs that will respond to the people’s active
participation in the campaign there were still unavoidable fire incidents that occurred in the city. Last
February 21 and March 6, 2022, Airland Supermarket located at Miranda Street near Sto. Rosario
Elementary School had caught fire and this was 2 weeks after the Jake Gonzales Boulevard fire incident
at Barangay Malabanias occurred.
