Course Name: Engineering Drawing Assignment Topic: Projection of Planes

1. A regular pentagon ABCDE, of 25mm side, has its side BC in HP. Its plane is
perpendicular to the HP and inclined at 450 to the VP. Draw the projections of the
pentagon and show its traces when its corner nearest to the VP is 10mm from it.
2. Draw the projections and traces of a thin circular sheet of ɸ 50mm and negligible
thickness, when its plane is inclined at 450 to VP and is perpendicular to HP. A point
on its circumference and nearest to the VP is 40mm away from the HP and 14mm away
from the VP. Draw its projections both in first and third quadrants.
3. A regular hexagonal thin plate of 45mm side has a circular hole of 45mm diameter in
its centre. It is resting on one of its corners in HP. Draw its projections when the plate
surface is vertical and inclined at 300 to the VP.
4. A circular disc of ɸ 40mm and negligible thickness rests on HP on its rim and makes
an angle of 450 to it. One of its diameters is inclined to VP at 300. Draw its projections
keeping distance of the centre of the disc 40mm in front of the VP.
5. Draw the projections of a rhombus having diagonals 96mm and 48mm long. The
smaller diagonal is parallel to both the reference planes, while the other diagonal is
inclined at 300 to the HP and has one of its end points in HP. Keep the centre of the
rhombus 56mm in front of the VP.
6. A regular pentagon ABCDE, of 40mm side, has its corner A on HP. Its side CD parallel
to the HP and inclined at 450 with the VP. The plane of the pentagon makes an angle of
350 with the HP. Draw its projections keeping the corner point C 70mm in front of the
VP.
7. A regular hexagon, 30mm side, has a corner in the HP. Its surface is inclined at 450 to
the HP and the plan of the diagonal through the corner, which is in the HP, makes an
angle of 450 with the VP. Draw its projections.
