Explain the methods of assessing population

growth in brief also giving the latest data of


all Indian states?
India, being a vast fertile country, situated in the southern-part of Asia. India population in 2022
is estimated to be 1.40 Billion (140 Crores), According to Unique Identification Aadhaar India,
updated Dec 2020, by mid of year 2020 the projected population is 1,370,508,600. With roughly
one-sixth of the world's total population, India is the second most populous country, after China
and the US is the third most populous country in the world. There are two types of estimation
techniques: inter-census and post-census. An inter-census estimation is for a date between two
census takings and usually takes the results of the two censuses into account. A post-census
estimate is typically conducted for the current year.Population estimates use census as a
baseline, add births, subtract deaths and make allowances for migration. They can be used for
national and local planning. Population estimates are produced annually.Derived from total

India’s 2020 population is estimated at 1,380,004,385 people at mid-year according to UN data.


As per the Unique Identification Authority of India, India’s population is 1,371,360,350 (approx)
in 2020. According to Census Population Projection Report India’s Population in 2022 is
estimated to 13,75,586,000 (1.38 Billion or 138 Crore)
India is a federal union comprising 28 states and 8 union territories, a total of 36 numbers. Uttar
Pradesh is the largest state by population & Goa is the least populated state in India. Let’s have
