1. When did you know that you were pregnant (approx. which month of pregnancy)
Ying knew that she was pregnant after two months when she stopped to have
menstruation, approximately around the first two months of pregnancy. Cherrie
knew that she was pregnant also approximately the first two months of her
pregnancy.
2. Was this a planned pregnancy?
It was not a planned pregnancy for Ying, but for Cherrie it was a planned pregnancy.
3. Were you underweight, overweight or ideal weight when you became pregnant?
Both Ying and Cherrie were in ideal weight when they become pregnant.
4. Did you take a prenatal supplement when you discovered that you were pregnant?
Both Ying and Cherrie did not take any prenatal supplement before or during the
pregnancy.
5. Did you smoke cigarettes, marijuana, use drugs or drink alcohol during this pregnancy?
Both Ying and Cherrie did not do any forbidden actions mentioned during their
pregnancy.
6. If the answer to #5 is yes to any of those options, were you advised by any Dr. or health
care provider not to do so?
The answer of #5 is NO.
7. Did you have any tests to check for anemia, diabetes, or deficiencies during this pregnancy?
Due to poverty and lack of sources, Ying did not do any testing during the pregnancy.
On the other hand, Cherrie did a complete body check to test for anemia, diabetes, or
nutrient deficiencies during the pregnancy, and thankfully, everything is fine.
8. Were you diagnosed with gestational diabetes, borderline diabetes, or anemia?
Both Ying and Cherrie were not diagnosed with gestational diabetes, borderline
diabetes, or anemia.
9. Did you have any complications during the pregnancy that required medical assistance?
Both Ying and Cherrie were healthy and not diagnosed of any disease.
10. Did you have any preexisting conditions (diabetes, obesity, herpes, AIDS)?
Same answer from question #9, both Ying and Cherrie were healthy and not
diagnosed of any disease.
11. How many weeks were you pregnant for? Preterm, full term or past due date birth?
Both women were full term birth, Ying was pregnant for around 38 weeks, and
Cherrie was pregnant for around 38 and ½ weeks.
12. Did you give birth naturally or C-section? If C-section, was it mandatory or elected?
Ying gave birth naturally. Cherrie elected to give birth in C-section.
13. What was the weight and gender of the baby at birth? (approximate)
Ying’s baby was a girl and approximately weighed 7.6-7.8 lbs. Cherrie’s baby was a
boy and approximately weighed 8.1 lbs.
14. How was your diet overall during pregnancy – did you have cravings, nausea, vomiting,
ate healthier than usual or did not change diet at all?
Ying’s overall diet during the pregnancy was considered normal in her words, she
had mild nausea and vomiting in the first trimester, but later in the pregnancy was
back to normal but her back started to pain as the third trimester arrived. Also, she
had no change in her diet. On the other hand, Cherrie has mild vomiting and nausea
beginning of the pregnancy, but it did not affect her increasing cravings during the
pregnancy. Then, she ate healthier than usual according to her doctor’s consultation.
15. Was the baby born healthy or were there issues with baby’s health?
Thankfully, both women’s babies were born healthy and no issue with their health.
