Future Plans Reflection Essay

Great Oak High School has widened my horizons and shown me all the possible

opportunities I can strive to achieve in the future. My journey at this school inside and outside of

the classroom has helped me meet new people, learn new things, and try different activities. My

experience here was sadly cut short due to COVID-19 and not being in school for almost an

entire year and a half but this didn’t stop me from getting involved and further strengthening my

connections with family, friends, and teachers.

For as long as anyone has known me, I have always wanted to graduate and leave

California forever. I envisioned myself attending Texas, Arizona, or even Alabama colleges.

However, this year I suddenly had a change of heart and realized that I can not leave my family. I

am not 100% committed to SDSU but I am planning on attending in the fall of 2022. With

COVID-19 quarantines forcing everyone to stay home, I got extremely close with my family and

friends I was able to see. My excitement to leave so soon has now turned into a dreadful cry

whenever I think about leaving. My high school experience has been amazing and I am very sad

that it is coming to an end very fast.

Prior to entering my first year of high school at Great Oak, I was excited for the wide

class selections and trying out classes that peaked my interest. I began to take classes like

Spanish, Biology, Chemistry, WSB, Physics and so many more. Human Anatomy and

Psychology have been my two favorite classes at Great Oak. These classes have led me to

choosing a major in Psychology and further my college education with it. With this degree I

intend to go into the clinical field which would include diagnosing and helping psychologically

imparied patients. I would also like to work inside mental hospitals and travel but it depends on

what type of Psychology is most interesting to me while I am in college.

As I grow and develop new interests, my one goal has always stayed the same; help

people. WSB has helped me develop ways to help others and be a leader inside and outside the

classroom. These last three months of high school will be critical for the next chapter of my life

and I can’t wait to see what Great Oak High School has prepared me for.
