App Development Journey:

1. Finding a Problem
We thought of solving a problem that exists in every household every single day. The
question is what to cook for the family for breakfast, lunch, dinner and also snacks. Even if
they know what they want to make, they would not be knowing what ingredients are
supposed to go into making it and how much quantity of those ingredients are necessary.
This Yumm Recipes App solves that problem with its easy to navigate UI and easy to read
ingredients list. Just enter the name of the item you wish to cook and it will display several
varieties of that food item along with the ingredients list (which is fetched by using and API).
The users can also choose from some of the suggested recipes for some common yet
famous foods such as Biryani or Chocolates. The target audience for this app are the people
who are interested in cooking but don’t know where exactly to start. This is also useful for
people who want to build a career in cooking and want to start learning about the different
recipes available.

2. Key Functionality Requirements

Our vision for this app is for it to be easy to use, simple to navigate and easy to understand
for the user on what different varieties of recipes they can make from a simple food item
which will help them to be creative and also give them a list of all the ingredients and the
quantities of each item. This will make the buying process of these items easier and will
allow the cook to have more time for cooking the dish which is the fun part as it can be
made creative. We have achieved this basic functionality with our app. In the future, we
would also like to add all the cooking steps for most of the available recipes.

3. Growth Potential
The mobile app market is constantly growing at a rapid rate as more people are getting
access to mobile phones and to the internet all over the world. This app was made to make
one of the most important and never-ending task of cooking. With more and more people
around the world joining the workforce, it has left little time to cook. Yumm Recipes app
helps solve this problem and with proper advertisement, this has a huge growth potential to
become a part of every household.

4. Page Design
Our idea was to build a simple Home Page that contains a box to search whatever food item
the user wants and also suggest them some other recipes to get them started with using our
app. Once the user searches a food item, it will navigate them to another page where we
will display multiple recipes with the ingredients necessary and the quantity in a differently
coloured box each time. The user can just scroll down to view the entire list with ease. The
user can see different food varieties just by swiping to the right. All pages will contain a
back button in the top right corner to go back to the main page.

5. Refinement of the UI
We tested our app in its basic stage and decided to make it more appealing by adding an
App logo and also the food items images each time a recipe is displayed. We also made
some changed to the animations and navigations to make it look a lot smoother. We
designed the Home Page using neutral colours as it is easy on the eyes and made the recipes
in different coloured boxes to catch the attention of the user on a white background.
