DESCRIPTION:
This cathodic clear coat system based on acrylic resin is specially developed to coat decorative surfaces.
It can be applied from 5 microns to 30 microns.
This cathodic clear coat system is an excellent protection for high gloss metals and metal plated surfaces
of Gold, Chromium, Silver, Nickel, Aluminum, Stainless steel and other alloys from atmospheric
influences as well as from everyday wear and tear.
This product imparts gloss, clarity, hardness, smoothness, scratch resistance, solvent resistance,
chemicals / salt resistance and UV resistance to prolong the life of substrate beyond imagination.
MIXING PROCEDURE:
1. Weigh exact quantity of PART A, SUPPLY MATERIAL in clean container (Stainless steel/Plastic).
2. Add exact quantity of PART B, DM WATER in SUPPLY MATERIAL slowly under stirring, as rate of
addition should be such that entire PART B addition take minimum 15 minutes. Care to be
taken to avoid foam generation in large quantity. Allow foam to settle down before coating.
3. Continue stirring for 30 minutes for to homogenization of bath material.
4. It is highly recommended to filter bath material through 600 – 800 MESH to remove any
impurities in the bath coming from DM WATER or APPARATUS USED for making bath.
5. After completing homogenization bath may filtered through filters ranging from0.2 TO 1.0
MICRON.
3. It is recommended to give aging of 2 hours through cartridge filter before taking through UF unit & start
production.
4. For jewelry item (Low DFT), it is recommended to make bath with lower solids of 4 to 6%. (Refractive index
= 6.6 – 10.0)
5. For Hardware item (High DFT), it is recommended to make bath with higher solids of 8 – 10% (Refractive
Index = 13 – 15)
6. For Lacquer addition into the running bath, it is recommended to take 10 liters of bath solution for mixing
of 1 kg of lacquer.
LACQUER ADDITION:
For 1000-liter bath, to increase Refractive index by 1.0, add 1.0 kg of supply material.
MIXING PROCEDURE:
Take exactly 10 ml of PART B, BATH ADDITIVE THINNER 1. Measure exact 990 ml of PART A, DM WATER
in 1-liter beaker. Add PART B, BATH ADDITIVE THINNER 1 to PART A, DM WATER under stirring in 5
minutes.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
1. Ensure cleaning of all apparatus before making rinsing solution with BATH ADDITIVE THINNER 1 followed
by DM WATER.
2. Use Plastic / Glass / Stainless steel apparatus for preparing solution.
Any Axalta approved DYE (Water based / Solvent based) or standardized DYE SOLUTION may be used
for imparting any specific color to lacquer film as required by Customer.
Care to be taken while add required quantity of dye to supply resin material and then bath to be made.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
No DYE SOLUTION should be added directly to the bath as it may not give satisfactory results or may disturb film
properties.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Exact quantity of permeate to be added and solvent adjustment varies from plant to plant and can be decided by
actual analysis of bath samples after bath commissioning.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Do not add solvents directly to the bath.
Bath additive thinner 1, Flow control additive or Bath additive thinner 2 is added to the bath by mixed it with
double amount of lacquer quantity.

Higher or Lower values of bath solids are possible for any specific application
OUTDOOR DURABILITY:
NOTE:
1. Dry film thickness should be 15 microns for testing.
2. It is recommended that hardness test & perspiration test can be done after 72 hours of
coating.
3. Performance of supply material is dependent upon substrate, quality of electroplating and
substrate processing parameters. It should be verified on actual substrate.
4. In case of coating with coloring agents, outdoor durability of coating depends upon
lightfastness of coloring agent used.
This is general procedure for bath commissioning. Axalta technical person should be consulted before
commissioning for possible variations in this procedure for specific application.
