Section A:
(CASE STUDY)
Cultures, Ndere Troupe and headquarters of UDTA is built on 9 acres of well-
maintained green, beautifully flowered walk ways and shaded by very mature fruit
and other African trees. The rare architecture is a seamless combination of artistic
creativity with simplicity that takes African forms, materials, colours and construction
to unprecedented heights. The Centre is tranquility at its best its services. It’s found
in Kisaasi - Kira Rd, Kampala, Uganda. The center’s Vision is of rekindle, rehabilitate,
galvanize, promote and sustain the positive sense of pride, confidence, self-reliance
and efficacy, of the Ugandan (African) person as a respectable, rightful, equal,
admirable, responsible, relevant and contributing member of the global human
family.

Ndere culture center aims at diligently research into, carefully master, respectfully develop,
constantly update, creatively beautify, articulately present and diplomatically represent
Uganda’s (Africa’s) indigenous civilizations, endowments, values, arts and cultures as a
promotion of our positive identity; constantly keeping them at standards that consistently
meet and serve contemporary and future tastes, needs and intellectual expectations; using
them to cause positive socio-economic transformation at individual, community and national
levels; linking them to the rest of the world to foster international understanding, cross-
cultural appreciation and enrichment; safeguarding, preserving and propagating them for
posterity.

It holds a record of holding successful cultural shows and functions. In the year, it held one
of its biggest events which pulled a lot of people although few but serious challenges
where raised by some of its clients such as over crowing, echo in some points, limited
activities (only cultural performances), failure to publish its financial statements and tax
contribution to the government, unbalanced venue attendants to clients ratio. And these
are one of the reasons why its only two sponsors are polling out this time and at the same
time they are remaining with only one local sponsor. Ndere culture center uses one of the
modern sophisticated systems in the music world produced locally in Uganda. It has one of
the best staff equipped with modern technical skills. Ndere cultural center has just won a
business deal of hosting R. Kelly concert in October this year. The company has only three
months to organize this event. The directors of the venue have agreed at using a
recruitment company, Price water coopers LTD to recruit anew Entertainment & Venue
Assistant Manager in order to overcome its previous embarrassments.

Scenario;
Ndere cultural center aims at improving its service delivery by handling its previous
customer complaints to meet its Vision. The directors expect a lot of improvements from
its Entertainment & Venue Department.
Assuming that you have been selected amongst the last two candidates to take this job,
write the best strategy you would employee to emerge as the best candidate for this position
by doing the following;

a) Identify the contributions the entertainment industry as well as comparing funding

c) Compare operational strategies and suggest various management practices that

e) Demonstrate your critical thinking about the challenges in the entertainment industry
as a result of the new technology trend. Come up with practical solutions to the negative
technology effects at Ndere Cultural Center. (08 Marks)
