Admission
Spectator admission will be $10 for a one-day pass per GIPA guidelines.
The spectator entrance will be on the side of the gym on the lower level, just inside the double doors.
Spectator seating will be on a “first come, first served” basis on the front side of the gym. Performers are encouraged to support all units, but are requested to sit in areas on the sides to allow
paid spectators the middle area.
Parking
Entrances at the school will be clearly marked for both competing units and spectators. Parking attendants can help direct you if you have any questions regarding parking. Any unit
with a large truck, tractor-trailer, or bus will need to enter at the BULLARD RD entrance and park in the bus port or on the band field. This will be clearly marked and will have an
attendant available to assist.
Spectators and groups with passenger vehicles will enter the school’s main entrance (4165 Luther Ward Road) and follow the signs/be directed by band parent volunteers to park in
designated lots.
Registration/Check-In
Unit registration will begin Saturday by 9:00 am (adjusted by the schedule as needed) and will be located at the bus port at the back of the school (entrance off Bullard Road). Please
arrive at least 1 hour prior to scheduled warm-up for check-in.
Equipment/Prop Information
Equipment unloading procedures and routes to/from performance/warm-up areas will be reviewed at check-in, as last-minute changes may be necessary.
Be prepared to have someone with your props and floor at least 15 minutes before your performance. Immediately following your performance please plan to load your equipment.
Props and equipment must be taped and padded to prevent floor damage. Performers must wear shoes at all times when not in the competition area. Penalties will be assessed for
violation of this rule. Floor carts can be used.
Please make sure you have extra tarps with you in the event they are needed. We will not have additional tarps onsite.
Props and floors may be stored in the equipment storage area on the unit/equipment entrance hallway. Due to limited space, units are asked not bring your equipment any sooner than 1
hour before your performance. You may return your props, floors and equipment to the storage area for no later than 1 hour after your performance.
The maximum allowable tarp size is 60’ x 90’.
Dressing Facilities
Both boys’ and girls’ dressing rooms are available onsite. Personal belongings will be stored in school hallways. These hallways will only be used to store personal belongings for
competing units. An attendant will monitor the hallways, but security of belongings cannot be guaranteed. Please keep all valuables secured. You are welcome to stretch in the
hallways, however, please be mindful and not use loud music.
Warm Up Areas
Upon check in, each unit will be assigned a volunteer Guide. Your unit Guide will meet you at check in. You will be escorted to warm up (see maps) at the appropriate time. The
volunteer guide will stay with you through your performance and will escort you back to the personal belonging storage area. Timing for each area is determined by the published
GIPA schedule.
Timeline
Our timeline will be vertical. From the judges’ perspective, units will enter from the left rear of the gym and exit on the left front. The floor will be pulled from the left sideline to the
right. Upon entry, you may pull the floor to the halfway point, and then await notification from the timing judge to proceed.
Critique
Staff/Judges critique will be held on the main level in the Media Center.
Awards
All units will receive certificates for participation. The top three (3) scoring units in each GIPA judged class will receive awards.
First Aid
A First Aid station will be located near the locker rooms adjacent to the performance gym. The area will be clearly marked with signs. Directional signs will also be located in the
unit/equipment entrance hallway.
Hospitality
The Judges’ hospitality room and tabulation area will be located in an area TBA (details will be shared with judges before the event). The Director’s hospitality room will be located
in a room near the event – those details will be included in your day of event packet.
