Course Description This course relates HRSG inspection and maintenance cycles, activities
to outage work on the Gas Turbine and Balance of Plant for both
Combined Cycle and Co-Generation Facilities.

Subjects cover the arrangement of both horizontal and vertical units,

cycle performance, control, pressure part and non-pressure part
degradation, water treatment, metallurgical issues for cyclic operation,
advanced condition assessment and remaining life estimation, practical
inspection and repair activities.

Prerequisites • Instruction is given in English, therefore a reasonable ability to read

and understand spoken English is required

Learning Objectives This course will provide basic knowledge on the following:

• ‘Best Practices’ operating guidelines, both base-loaded and cycling

units
• Opportunities for performance improvements
• HEP Inspection Programs focusing on Grade 91 challenges and
describe the need to develop comprehensive inspection programs
• Preventive maintenance and routine care

One additional underlying objective is to help plant personnel that may

be very familiar with the traditional fossil fired boiler with the challenge
of learning the critical differences of inspection, maintenance and
performance that impact HRSGs in a unique manner.
