Q1: How was the story of Keesh remembered from one generation to the next?
Answer: The story of Keesh was transferred from generation to generation. The
people who learnt this story from their parents and grandparents passed on the
story to their children and those children to their next generation. So, in this
manner the story of Keesh passed on generation to generation.

Q2: What does the author mean (paragraph 3) by 'he had seen thirteen suns'?
Why only thirteen?
Answer: The author means that the boy is thirteen years old because the people
their measure years by sun. Because they live so far away from the center of the
earth it is dark half of the year and light for the other half of the year.

Q3: Who was Bok, and how did he die?
Answer: Keesh's father name was Bok. He died while he was on expedition of
killing a polar bear to feed his tribe. The fight with the polar bear was so intense
that Bok got injured and succumbed to his injuries.

Q4: What complaint did Keesh make at the council?
Answer: Keesh complaints about the meat in the council, he said that it was true
that meat be proportioned to him but it was often old and tough. He says that the
meat must be divided among the people in a just and fair manner.

Q5: How did the men react to Keesh's statements in the council meeting?
Answer: People at the council were amazed and stunned by the boldness of the
Keesh. They responded furiously and raised voice that how can a boy of such a

young age speak like that in front of the council. They were boiled a white heat in
anger. They ordered him to bed and threatened that he should have no meat at
all.

Answer: Answer: Keesh resolved to go for hunting himself and feed every single
person of his tribe. He also resolved to divide his killing family, he also added that
no widow nor weak shall cry in the night.

Q7: What had Keesh been doing to make him sleep for twenty hours?
Answer: Keesh needed to sleep for twenty hours because he had been on hunting
expedition for the first time. He travelled a long way to the shoreline for hunting a
she-bear and he two cubs that made him weary.

Q8: Who was sent to follow Keesh and why?


Answer: Bim and Bawn two of the finest hunters were sent to follow Keesh and
find out how did Keesh hunt the bears. Because it was very hard for the council to
understand that how did a boy of so young age hunt the bears. They thought that
he was using witchcraft but later on they came to know that it was a head craft.

Q9: In what way did Ugh-Gluk tax Keesh?


Answer: Ugh-Gluk taxed Keesh with the accusation that he was using witchcraft
to hunt bear that is an illegitimate action and the meat hunted with witchcraft
cannot be eaten.

Q10: What was Keesh's 'headcraft'?


Answer: Keesh's headcraft was clever thinking of inventive idea, that allowed him
to hunt successfully.
