Reed Miller - Syrian

(Refugees)
Heifer at Home Slideshow Presentation
Lack of Health Care Provided to Syrian Refugees:
Lack of health care in Syria is a major problem. With 80% of
Syria being in poverty or worse, many people can’t afford
access to health care systems. This is a major problem
because one of the leading causes of death in Syria is
disease. Without health care being provided to the Syrian
refugees death rates continue to increase.
Low Employment Availability For Syrian Refugees:
Working conditions for the Syrian refugees are so bad due to
the violent government crackdown in 2011. A lot of damage
was done to the country and ruined many people's lives. This
damage caused working conditions to become awful and
provided less opportunities for legal jobs. All of this
caused employment availabilities to go down for the Syrian
Refugees and continues to be a big problem for them. The
current unemployment rates in the main Syrian refugee camps
is 61% in camps in Jordan, 80% for camps in Zaatari, and 33%
for camps in lebanon.
War in Syria Causing the Refugee Problem:
The Civil War in Syria caused over 5 million people to flee
conflict in Syria. The war destroyed most of the country and
caused many Syrians to become refugees. In just this year it
has displaced more than 900,000 Syrian citizens. The war had
also killed an estimated 400,000. This is a major problem
because it has killed hundreds of thousands of people, and
put millions of people into harsh living conditions.

What are the 3 most important things you learned?
One of the most important things I learned is that I need to
realize how lucky I am to have such an easy life. Comparing
my life to how people in Syria have to live every single day
makes me realize how good I have it. Another important thing
I learned is that we need to do something for the refugees
struggling in Syria. It’s becoming worse and worse everyday
and has been that way since the Civil War. The last most
important thing I learned is that everyone lives such a
drastically different life and we have to respect everyone
because you don’t know what they come from.
