Concentrated Solar

Power
By; Leonardo Castro, Franlu Vera
What is this Technology
The technology consists of mirrors to concentrate heat to a pipe
filled with a heat dense substance that carries the heat to a place
where the heat is stored or taken to an energy plant to where the
heat from the fluid heats the water to steam which in turn spins
the wheel to create energy. The substance is also reused to be
heated up.
How it works 101
Mirrors put heat at point
Fluid gets hot
Fluid goes to steam
barrel
Steam moves turbine
Power
Used steam goes through
different pipe to be
cooled and reused

This is a tower version of the cps systems

Claim
Claim: This form of Solar power is a better alternative to solar
panels but in certain scenarios. This is because not only is this the
most interesting sounding one out of the ones we have seen, we
also found interesting the thay that it works.
Evidence
Evidence: The towers is mostly run on heat and water giving this
solution better leeway for maintenance. Excess heat can be used
for industrial projects such as; desalination, enhanced oil
recovery, food processing, chemical production, and mineral
processing. The plant can also store its excess heat with other
solutions giving the plant some efficiency even though the sun
may not be out.
Pros and Cons
Pros clean energy, thermal energy storage, complements other
renewables, industrial heat applications

Cons; Cost feasibility, best used at a larger scale, environmental

concerns ( due to cooling method, water, needs a lot of water.),
needs large plots of land
Reasoning:
This alternative source is a good form of energy to adopt because
it has a multipurpose instead of being just a renewable source of
energy. It can also assist solar panels and wind turbines when
needed.
