Self-reflection 1: Reflect on the following ethical questions. Write your reflections in your journal. What sort
of thing I am? Where do I come from? Where am I going? What is my future and destiny? What must I do
to live well and be happy? What is the cause and remedy to my present plight and problems?
“we can do it, it’s just a mere flaw today we can still start
a new day tomorrow. Just relax and be confident, be

Analyze the following situation and answer the given question. Cite examples if needed to support your idea.
1. Miss X, the adviser of Grade 8 Section A, adjusted the grade of her favorite student in order for the student to
rank first during the first grading period. Is Miss X responsible for her act? Support your answer.
Yes, I think miss X must be responsible for her act. It’s definitely not right to adjust grades because she
is her favorite student, she should have considered all the efforts that the other kids had for them to achieve
their grades. Legally, what she did is punishable by law under Article 11, of R. A. No. 7836. otherwise
known as the Philippines Professionalization Act of 1994 and Paragraph (a), section 6. P.D. No. 223. as
amended, the Board for Professional Teachers, so it means she is responsible of taking punishments on
what she did if ever they find it out. A teacher is responsible in giving score and computing grades but not
adjusting grades for their favorite student, being a teacher she should have been fair because she is
considered as a second mother at school, at least she should be a good model to her students.
2. Mrs. X, the adviser of Grade 8 Section A, was threatened by the mother of one of her students, that if Mrs. X
will not adjust the grade of the particular student to rank number one for the first grading, she is going to report
Mrs. X to the principal for cohabiting (living together) with another man despite having a husband working
overseas. Is Mrs. X morally responsible for her act? Support your answer.
Yes, I think she is responsible for her immoral act having an affair despite of having a husband working
abroad but at the same time she is not accountable to adjust grades because of a threat. First, the issue of
having an affair is out of her job circle, it’s a personal matter so professionally she must not include it in
making decisions in school. Second, the principal is out of place for Mrs. X’s family matter. Third, why
would Mrs. X be intimidated by a threat if she chooses to cheat at the first place. Lastly, adjusting grade
to save herself is being coward, she is not professional at all.
3. Tony, a data analyst for a major casino, is working after normal business hours to finish an important project.
He realizes that he is missing data that had been sent to his coworker Robert. Tony had accidentally observed
Robert typing his password several days ago and decides to log into Robert’s computer to resend the data to
himself. Upon doing so, Tony sees an open email regarding gambling bets Robert placed over the last several
days with a local sports book. All employees of the casino are forbidden to engage in gambling activities to
avoid any hint of conflict of interest. Tony knows that he should report this discovery but would have to admit
to violating the company’s information technology regulation by logging into Robert’s computer. If he warns
Robert to stop betting, he would have to reveal the source of his information. What should tony do in this
situation? (Your Dictionary, 2019).
Tony should do what is right in this situation, he should report what he found out and at the same time
himself for violating the company’s information technology regulation and accept their punishment. I
think it’s the best way to correct everything rather than saving himself or not talking at all. Also by this it
will lessen future damages for him and Robert because the company might found out later on about their

engagement in gambling activities. It is also an option to talk to Roberts and stop him from gambling but
things might get complicated so for me, the best way is for him to correct their mistakes before everything
becomes worst. We cannot always run from problems, sometimes we should stop running and try to face
them.
4. Your best friend confided to you that she is pregnant and would like to have the baby aborted because the
father of the baby is married; besides, she is already in her last year of college, and her parents expect her to
graduate and find a job to help her younger siblings in their schooling.
I know that abortion is a sin and I know that my best friend is having a hard time carrying all this problem
so first I will talk to her and try to change her mind. I will try to convince her and talk about the situation
with her parents, taking the innocent baby’s life is a sin and might also hurt her so I must do something
about it. In addition, I can also cheer her up about continuing her studies without getting rid of the baby.
If it won’t work, then I will stay by her side until I know she’s safe and won’t do anything stupid. Talking
to her parents is the best choice in this situation I know it will be difficult for me, for my best friend and
to her parents but I will still do it. Parents know what is best for us so I know they won’t let my best friend
suffer alone. She might get angry about it or maybe dump me as her best friend but it’s okay for me at
least I know in my heart that I did my part as her friend and I did the right thing for her without regret.
